UVA has traditionally been a thorn in Louisville’s side since Louisville has been in the ACC. I believe Louisville has only beaten UVA once since Louisville has been in the ACC. Not saying UVA will win or anything, but UVA’s ability to slow teams down and play their style of basketball is what always keeps UVA in striking distance of winning the game.

Yea but this UL team can defend, and UVA can’t score.
It’s a long way going from a top 5 offense, versus one that’s ranked 276th. You admit they still may not beat UL, but I’m curious why you think their odds are strong they will? Slow ball? Doesn’t matter when UL has a pg now that can speed things up and attack at will. UVA is a shell of what they were in recent years.

I do not have cable, so I don’t usually see this, but I’m watching Packer and Durham on the ACCN. They were talking about all-time Duke-UNC moments, and someone called in and said they think UNC will win out. If that wasn’t WTH enough, he said he thinks UNC is on the uptick. Rivalry games are rivalry games, but my god, even Packer and Durham said UNC is worse since Anthony came back.

I don’t think their odds are strong that they beat Louisville. In fact if I were betting on the game, I would take Louisville, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that UVA can slow Louisville down even if Louisville has a PG that can speed things up. You are right about UVA not having much of an offense, but UVA is very good at making teams play their pace of basketball and while UVA may not have much of an offense, their defensive style has not changed, and their defense is what has kept them in games to win or have a chance to win. In each of their conference games, they have lost, it’s not been by very many points.
In the past few years, UVA still had a boring offense that rarely scored in the 60's. However, that boring offense was super efficient, especially last year.
They still run the same boring offense this year, however now they don't have any future NBA guys playing for them, and that boring offense is a disaster.
They are on the outside looking in this year for the tournament, 1 big win and they will make it. They seem to have Louisville's number for whatever reason (similar to when ND had our number for a few years), if the game was at UVA, I'd say they could win but I doubt it with the game in Louisville.
I'm still super worried about when we visit UVA, all because they win that game and they will probably make the tournament.

I will be rooting for UVA hard against Louisville, to bring Louisville back to the pack in the ACC standings, but to also give UVA one of those marquee wins so they aren't necessarily as desperate for one when Duke comes to town!
You can’t blow VA out, it just doesn’t happen outside of a fluke game like UMBC. That said, that same style masks games where they’re never really in it. UL should win but then again this year, unlike most, no loss shocks me.
A 9-12pt win over uva might as well be a blowout. It takes them about 12 min to score that many.
I didn’t know which thread to post this in but I heard something funny yesterday. They’ve been showing Duke UNX classic games this week. I don’t remember what year the game was that I was watching but it was when mccants was there. Vitale was calling the game, and at one point mccants was shooting free throws. Vitale was doing his usual love fest over unx, when he said, and I quote “Carolina wins with class and they win by going to class”........huh???? I wound it back to hear it again because I was sure he didn’t just say that.

Weird to watch State at Cuse and see SO MANY empty seats. Usually only watch Cuse games when we're playing there and it's always packed.
