While largely true I think we’re forgetting just how dang good PSU is.
Iowa is not closing the gap, in fact, it is moving in the opposite direction. There recruiting has been abysmal. The future is not bright. TnT represents the old guard. They may still be really good coaches, but at this level, if you are not cutting edge, you are a dull butter knife and money can’t buy consistent success
It was a beat down but if we wrestled Penn St. in a dual this year, we would get pounded into the mat also. Based on rankings we would be the favorite in 1 weight class and that would be at 141. We are a lot younger than Iowa and so our potential is much higher especially with our 26 recruiting class. I would not think of trading our program for theirs, but they have beaten us a bunch of times in a row including this year. Every match i was pulling for Iowa because Penn. St. is our real enemy. Also Jax means we might win another match but Blaze against Jax is very close. I still think we should have Jax wrestle 5 and redshirt. We will be much better next year then this year. Next year we should beat Iowa like drum.
The difference between our program and iowas is literally night and day. The sun is setting on theirs and the sun is rising on ours. No matter how we would fair this year against PSU, there is hope in our program. Iowa has only despair. They can throw as much money as they want at it, it’s like putting bandaids on the titanic.

Jax just started wrestling so is not ranked appropriately yet - in my opinion he's #1 at his weight so technically we would have 3 higher ranked wrestlers. Regardless, this is my opinion of an OSU vs PSU dual:

OSU would be a clear favorite at 133 - Jax and 141 - Vega

The following would have a solid chance of winning:
125 - Sprately
157 - Robideau
Hwt - Doucet

It wouldn't really surprise me to pull off another upset somewhere like 184 or 149.

Iowa wrestled way too defensively against PSU - that is something we would not do.
Instead of doucet, Lockett and Vega have better chances.

He is a clear favorite to me, but others will disagree.
You go boy! In my mind, he’s already champ, it’s just a formality the rest of the season. 😉 actually, I love the confidence. Honestly, bringing Jax in right now, he will be on a confidence high. He seems to rise to the occasion when the moment arises. go pokes 🤠

I said Vega was a clear favorite.
Lockett beating flos #1 p4p wrestler would be a big upset. Messenbrink has destroyed everyone he's wrestled this year.
I would not say we are a “clear favorite” at any weight. Jax would be our most probable prospect at a championship, if/when he wrestles this year. Lockett has as a good or better chance to medal as anyone else on the team. Vega and Robideau have shown brilliance and have a sold chance to podium. It is truly a freshmen rich team and sometimes Freshmen can be inconsistent

The post was about a dual between PSU and OSU.

Iowa putting a beat down on Nebraska. Arnold wrestled 184 instead of Ferrari tonight.

Watching Missouri v UNC and man this ref is butchering the stall calls. UNC 174 just got unsportsmanlike for clapping in the refs face after he called him on his third and I agree with the kids frustration (not the clapping though).

He either tired out or got bullied. He was taking it to Van Ness.
He won a funky scramble in a weird position that got him back points. Which was really good wrestling on his part for about a minute. I hate to say it because I always liked him but he def wasn’t taking it to Van Ness. After that it was all back foot.

Honestly, I sped it up on his match. I only saw slowed it down for the last little bit. 🤷🏼

Seems that Ross could use a year of redshirt to develop into a heavyweight.
I will always feel that way about 165 and up. Most (not all) benefit from a RS year.

With that being said, it will be surprising if we throw mower out there instead of Ross. So that means one year transfer maybe? Which looking at the current top 15 guys there’s not a ton of options out there. So I do think it’s possible Ross is our guy.

Braxton Amos maybe? I know he almost came here out of high school but that was with a completely different staff obviously.
