He hooked up a cradle, got back points, Van Ness was never really in danger. Obv would have loved to see Carter get the pin but if you watch Van Ness during this sequence he looks like he's wrestling against a child, just propped up on his elbows and hanging out lol.

What a brutal weight 133 is. I have not seen Crookham wrestle, but a special talent. Unless injuries get worse at 133 it will be a tough weight to AA in. Two time finalist Ayala is not ranked to AA and he seems healthy.

Maybe so, but I also fall in the camp of “would get pissed off at a chest tap after getting stuck”. Still wouldn’t kick someone because that’s worse than getting mad lol. I think if he had popped up and got in his face saying “don’t tap my chest” it wouldn’t be looked at near as bad. Kicking someone though is just slightly above something like spitting lol.

Did he lose to Hawks? That’s not super surprising. Hawks was good at Missouri but I think he was dealing with injuries this year.

Don’t know where else to put this, but I don’t think a guy in my memory has been screwed over more than Rogers got screwed over when John let Joe take his spot for the postseason.
He made it look easy. What was his secret? Extra good leverage?
He was always good up top even as a youth wrestler. He spent lots of time wrestling Greco. He was way stronger than he looked as well. He was also very determined and had a great work ethic.

IMO if Joe’s last name had been anything other than Smith, John doesn’t even humor his desire to wrestle off. Joe was some combination of too big/too undisciplined to be a healthy and effective 165. Wrestle off results be damned Chandler was the better option by a mile
Chandler is one of my favorites. Living right down the road from where he grew up and watching him wrestle for years as a youth I was so excited when he went to Stillwater. It was a bad time up here when Joe took his spot and there's still hard feelings to this day. Chandler is a better man than I am and will never say anything bad about the program and how things went down, but it still rubs me the wrong way. I don't care what anybody else says John screwed that one up.

Joe was the ultimate practice room athlete, but his heart was not in it by the end. I had HUGE issues with Joe starting over Rogers Most wrestlers will wrestle like that when they go against lesser quality wrestlers and then tighten up and wrestle conservatively with higher quality opponents. It takes a special type of person to wrestle the same way no matter who they face. He’s one of my favorites

John made the decision to maximize points at NCAAs. It was a risk. I wonder how many points they thought Chandler would score vs Joe. Like y'all though I don't love that they decided solely with a late-season wrestle-off between the starter and a guy that didn't make weight until the wrestle-off.
