Someone is clueless with this one. Gabe could've been gone but chose to stay because at the end of the day it's about more then wins and losses. He knew the odds were against him as far as being a starter but stayed
I am just saying what would be the best for his wrestling career. There is no way you believe he is developing an offensive skill set with these coaches. He is more talented than any 174 or 184 at OSU. I would like to see him reach his potential.

Its popular to hit TNT right now. Developing offensive skill but more talented than ..........doesn't make sense, or are they not able to develop either? I say Gabe has plenty of offense but no you aren't going to see a lot of fire against a Mcenally but then again neither does anyone else. Gabe has great double and single leg attacks and he finishes for the most part. Good defense, could use work on counter attacks , doubt Okie St has the market on that.

Gabe is a far more explosive athlete than anybody OSU has at 174 or 184. I agree Gabe has really good leg attacks when he takes them, but he is holding back far too much. I have no idea if it is his fault or the coach's fault that they can't help him overcome this hesitant nature. Sometimes it isn't really anybody's fault and it simply isn't working. Perhaps Gabe is happy in Iowa City and that is what matters the most to him. I think he could find a greener pasture.

You told me I don't understand the Mo situation well you don't understand the Gabe situation 🤷. And I know plenty about the Mo situation.

Like I said before it's not all about wins and losses for everyone. Gabe and his family like Iowa City
I'll preface this with I obviously do not know Gabe Arnold or anyone even remotely associated with the University of Iowa program. That said, I don't buy the "Gabe just loves Iowa city, and its not about the wins and losses" concept.

His own words:

" I can score points,” Arnold said about his mentality before the match. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a guy who’s not ranked or the No. 1 guy in the nation, I can score points. So it’s reminding myself of that, reminding myself of how good I can be.”

"I know I’m pretty dang good at wrestling,” Arnold said. “It’s time to go win a national title this year. A lot of people are writing me off this year, but this year isn’t over. I’m getting better, and I’m coming, I’m coming hard. My moment is now.”

He very clearly cares a great deal about winning, proving himself, putting up points, and improving on the mat. As he should. I don't care whether he stays or goes. I just don't believe his family and him have such a love of Iowa City that he will stick there if he believes he can be better and have more opportunities elsewhere. I'd love to see his potential reached, that's for sure.

Also, does he not have a clear spot at 174 next year? Kennedy got another year?

Barring season ending injury to 74/84, is there a chance Gabe gives 97 a go? I could see him placing anywhere from 2-4 at Big Tens. And Natty would likely depend on seed and blood round matchups. Wouldn't expect him to be lights out at 97 but better than what we have and he is losing a year this year anyway.

Man i just pooked. I agree. Big 10 is weak at 97. Not super deep at nattys too. Maybe he would take the approach that he’s got nothing to lose in his underdog, and he rips through some upsets.

I think Gabe is actually 2-0 at 197 this year albeit close wins against guys that wont make it to Nattys.

Edit: I double checked and Gabe actually got a major decision at 97 against Chattanooga fella.

That’s insane. Now his opponents can try to attack his hand with hot pepper extract to take advantage of the knowledge of his injury.

Will there be streaming on BT+ this year? All I see is BTN on Hawkeye Sports and is not listed on BT+ event schedule. Hope they don't take away individual mat options.

Edit: PSU site does have both BTN and BTN+ listed for tournament. Not sure why Iowa doesn't.
