Did Byrd come back?
From fightingillini.com

No. 1 (133 pounds) Lucas Byrd was up next to equalize the dual against No. 20 Kade Moore whom he pinned in 1:12 a few days ago. This bout was very different as Byrd got turned on his back early and trailed 7-0 just a minute into the match. He never swayed or panicked; he trusted his offense and went to work stacking four-straight takedowns to outscore Moore 12-2 the rest of the way and tie the dual, 3-3.

*I’m replying to the blurb not taking a shot at you*

Byrd was flat as a pancake for about 3 seconds. The ref was on the complete opposite side of the mat out of position and was so slow to react it wasn’t even funny.

Match video does not show the proper contact points to make the determination of a pin. The ref was definitely caught off guard, but I thought he did well to get into position and had a Byrd's eye view of the shoulders for 2ish seconds.

I’ll never understand why anyone replies to these posts. They only exist because posters validate it by responding. It absolutely makes no difference how you respond. They’ll continue to exist and post as long as someone hits the reply button.
I'll refrain from responding to them from now on.

You can't see his shoulders so how can you determine he was truly "flat"? There was a guy with a much better view that you who saw ~2 seconds of that and disagrees.
He was yelled at after 125 and he knew the guy was the NCAA champ and he didn't call it. Not sure how anyone who's watched wrestling before couldn't tell he was pinned . My opinion he was pinned you have a different opinion we disagree thats ok

I am surprised people are even arguing that Byrd wasn’t pinned as he clearly was. Nothing like asking us to not believe what we see with our own eyes.
I once watched Mike Hagerty swipe his arm twice and say one, two, with his mouth and then stand up and say no back points. During the scramble he even had 2 fingers on his left hand extended. He then reviewed his own call and said again no back points. Sometimes our eyes and ears lie to us. Tony Ramos agrees with me and Logan Stieber appreciated Hagerty's anti Iowa bias.

So clear that you can't at all see the only thing that matters when calling a pin. Super clear though!

To be clear when Moore hit the high flyer and had Byrd on his back the ref was 4 feet out of bounds and 20 feet away. Byrd was stuck for 3 seconds before the ref got in place and was low enough to see both shoulder blades.

You keep saying this but his shoulders are visible. Maybe if you keep repeating it will be true.

When? He's covered by Moore's torso and arms through basically the whole sequence, not to mention the limitation of the camera angle.

I'm not saying he definitely wasn't pinned. He might have been early and could very well have gotten the call under different circumstance. My comments are more about how definitive everyone seems to be despite the flimsy-at-best evidence.

I thought he was pinned. But pinning a dude is sometimes only as good as what side the ref is initially on when its quick like that.
