Outscored 8-0 to end the first half and 8-2 to end the game against Tech. Lost 3 of 4 and got lucky to win the one against Texas. Looking at 4 of 5 with a trip to WV Saturday. This team has major problems right now.

And his name is Lon Kruger!! always wondered why his teams only make it so far and then fall off.

choklahoma, losing 3 out of 4 games and heading to WVU not good. This team has one play, shot a 3 pointer. zero post play. They will probably end up being a 4 or 5 seed.

Not sure it's Kruger's fault that Lattin and Spangler have combined for 14 points the last two games. Not sure it's his fault they can't get a stop at any critical point in a game or come up with any loose balls.

Pretty much every team in the nation has hit a slump this year. Let's just hope we come out of ours before the tourney.

Bandwagon was getting a little full with pretenders anyway. This loss ought to get things back to normal.

This team needs 1 game to get hot again. Just thought Taco Tech was gonna be that game.

They seem to have peaked early! Same as above, hoping they can get "it" back before tournament time.

Why no Christian James last night? He brings energy and game off the bench!

Kruger relied on starters for almost all of the second half and they had no gas the last several minutes of the game. Buddy's game has gone totally south. Shooting air balls

Michigan St went through it, Kansas did, North Carolina has lost 3 of their last 5. There are no great teams this year. Villanova is looking good, but they don't play the same competition as the other teams mentioned.

The bandwagon fans jumped off after the Kansas game Saturday. I couldn't even get a reply to this thread during the game last night. I had to talk to myself. It will be back to normal next year with a just above average team and an empty arena. At least I won't have problems getting tickets for the family.

Well, the Sooners have picked a bad time to hit a slump. I guess I'd rather see them in a slump now rather than in March! Hopefully they'll get back on track soon, but the trip to WVU on Saturday could be ugly.

I'm not so sure Buddy's game has "gone south," as it is teams are defending him better. He came out on fire vs. Tech, but they adjusted and he was pretty quiet the rest of the game until he started driving the lane, but that wasn't enough to pull away from Tech.. Cousins didn't play up to his previous level, but thankfully Woodard found his groove and kept us in the game where Buddy and Isaih were not getting the good looks at the basket.

Where I think the team has "gone south" is with Lattin and Spangler. We need those two to score more than four points a game in the paint. By scoring more insdie, it creates another facet to the game that other teams need to prepare for and should free up some of our shooters on the perimeter.

Right now, this is not a one or even a two seed team, in my opinion.

I should probably just shut up but:

Basketball in general is unwatchable. College and the NBA. Its all one on one. Nothing like in my youth where it was 5 on 5.

One or two passes and a jack a three. But I'm an old fogey - what do I know?

Just saying

I agree. Basketball is not near as much fun to watch as it was 15 to 20 years ago. High school basketball is poor as well, at least in northeast Nebraska. It's all one on one dribble drive, kick out and shoot the 3, or it's isolation and shoot the 3.

What's a bandwagon fan?

I see some on the Scoop like to use the phrase against others when we play consistently bad. Perhaps, you can help me.

We were 20-4 and ranked 3rd in the nation coming off a few poor performances going into last nights game and it's crickets around here. There were game threads up to the Kansas game and then a little disappointment sets in and all of a sudden there's nothing. What do you call it?

It's been crickets around here since about 1 week post NSD. I think the Sooners losing in basketball is just a coincidence. If we had won against Kansas, Kansas St, and Texas Tech, it would still be crickets here.

What difference does it make if a fan is a bandwagon or not?? If a person want's to conduct their fandom around the mentality of a bandwagoner, then there is no law against it. They can do so as they please. But whether a fan is a bandwagon or not, does nothing to take away from the fact that OU's basketball team has hit a slump and isn't playing very well at all.

i just think it sucks that the first sign of adversity or a slump and people disappear. Had this happened earlier in the season would they have had all the sellouts the last couple of weeks? Probably not. For whatever reason OU fans just aren't very loyal when it comes to anything other than football. Does it affect me personally? No it doesn't.

It's a long season. I think Kruger would be wise to seriously rest the starting five for ALL of the remaining games, lose a bunch, and take whatever seed OU gets... Then maybe, just maybe, the early season Sooners can come back and do some damage in the tourney.

It's more that it's crickets until we start losing, then people want to talk about them and how bad they are.

Some people don't wanna talk about it till there's something to gripe about.

Who cares if somebody acts like a bandwagon fan? Good question. But who cares if somebody points out the behavior? Mysterious questions of the universe!

Well what's worse, an OU fan whom "bandwagons" with the basketball team when they are doing great and will show up and fill the seats for the team during those occasions?? Or a fan whom will continue to ignore and dismiss the importance of OU basketball players when they are having a special season?? Many look down on fans whom they consider "bandwagons", but in the end they are better than the fans whom only focus on football year round, and put zero importance on OU Sooners athletes whom play other sports.
OU will never be a basketball power school like North Carolina, or Kentucky, or Duke, etc. OU fans are crazy over football. Something special has to happen before the masses of OU fans will come out and fill the seats or fill up message board for talk about basketball.

I didn't get to watch the game or I'd have been here with ya. Still time to hit our stride again. Hate to sound like a broken record, but Lack of depth in the paint is hurting us.

Disappointment brought on by a perceived lack of diversity in our play. Hard to spot when we're winning but stands out like an elephant in a closet when we play poorly.

Thanks JCon for your post. It cleared my head in a much needed way.

I don't use terms such as "bandwagon" or "fairweather" fans when I post because I'm not qualified to assess one's loyalty to OUr program merely based on their absence, limited posting, or the content of their opinion within their post. I don't sit in judgement of their character. I guess I'll leave that to you and a few other "experts".

"Bandwagon" or "Fairweather" fans was described as (1) those who SWITCH their support to whatever team that happens to be successful at the time; and, (2) those who just support the WINNING team at the moment instead of supporting their same team year after year.

You seem to read the tea leaves errantly.

What personal attribute do you possess that allows you to pass judgement onto others in the manner you have?

Are those who render a sincere assessment that is less than positive of our team play nothing more than "bandwagon" or "fairweather" fans?

I don't have such judgemental powers and don't want them.

  • I just do not understand, how Latin isn't getting easy buckets under the hoop? With the weapons out on the three point line, even Abdul Jabar at 36, would still get 30 points a game. And he only crossed the half court line 70% of the time.

He's learning...a work in progress. And Alcindor (hated the name change) was pretty good. ;)

Lattin doesn't have that soft touch around the rim. He'll likely never be much of a scorer outside put backs and the occasional mid range jumper.

And it's hard to get put backs on 3's, especially when they're going in at nearly a 50% clip. Long shots, long rebounds.
