I don't know much about B-ball, but I do know a champ team has to win at home. Just got to.
It sounds like we had a second consecutive rough shooting night and Lattin struggled again with foul trouble.
3 points in two games from Woodard????

My fear that we lack scoring and depth inside, is real. Texas' big man frustrated Spangler and Lattin. Most of Spangler's points were off the fast break. When we penetrated, the big guy (Ubey?) altered a lot of shots and our guards didn't seem to move the ball enough to get him away from the basket. We also weren't patient with shot selection far too often for my liking. Texas also out hustled us to the ball on multiple occasions, and another cold shooting game. We were lucky to escape with the win. Only bright spot was our defense, solid most of the night.
Not what I expected at home against Texas after a loss...at all. Our Achilles heel is team with size that can play defense in the paint. We looked tired.

But the truth is if we're going to win big this post season, it was never going to be off the offense of Lattin and Spangler. Hield, Woodard and Cousins will have to the scoring and the starting 5 playing lock down team defense together.
They can do it. They have for most of the season.

I have not cursed so much at my TV (and the Sooners) in a long time. Just an ugly, ugly win. Credit to texas for playing OU tough in Norman, but the Sooners should have won by double digits. Starting to get nervous about this team with the games we have left.
texASS has a good coach. He shut Buddy down in the first half. Down by 9, even after texASS went almost five minutes without scoring. Losing Lattin in the second seemed to hurt as well.
Mushmouth for texASS, ebah ubah ibea duba, whatever his name is, made it hard to get inside. Only when he went out did OU drive successfully, other than a few fast breaks by Spangler.
Teams with a decent big man and perimeter defense could make it tough in the tournament.

I would like to see Buddy's scoring totals by half. The games I have watched, I would guess he is about 30% first half, 70% second half.
A week or so ago, OU was trailing at half and Buddy wasn't much of a factor in the game, so far.
The TV reporter asked Kruger on his way to the locker room how he would get Buddy involved in the second half.
Kruger's response was "Buddy will get his" and then went to describe what everyone else needed to do for OU to pull the game out.
Seems like Buddy is very good at getting his teammates involved in the game early and only taking over the game when it is crunch time (second half).
He almost seems invisible on the offensive end of the court and, many times, never even touches the ball on offensive possessions.
Another thing about him, while he is being quiet on the offensive end, Buddy is a very good defender on the other end.
We are going to miss him next year.

Yes, as far influencing the outcome of a game, Buddy is right there with Blake Griffin. He's the man.
The wife, daughter, and myself made the trip to LNC from Springfield, MO and had an absolute blast! Hit New York Pizza and Ted's for some good eats. As for the game, here are some random observations (some of which mirror what has already been stated in this thread):
1) Teams seem to have adapted to our offense...especially on the perimeter. While there are still open shots at times, they are not as frequent. We did not have that many open looks in the first half.
2) Our offense finally got into gear with fast breaks and dribble penetration (and either finishing or kicking to the perimeter for open shots). We have to continue to do this if we want to make a big run in the tournament.
3) Cousins is a huge key to this offense's success. He has the ability to blow buy almost any defender. This broke down the Texas defense multiple times. Moving him to the point was genius!
4) While Woodard has missed some open shots the last few games, the change in defensive approach by opponents has really cut down on his open looks from the perimeter. While I have no doubt that the perimeter shot will start dropping again, he has to get back into "create" mode. Get to the line!
5) I'm not sure what is going on with Lattin. While he got into foul trouble, there seems to be more to it than that when looking at playing time the last few games. Whatever is going on, I hope it's just a bump in the road. While we all know this guy can be an absolute enforcer on the defensive end, he is going to improve substantially on the offensive end. It may or may not be this year, but it is coming.
6) Buford really impressed me. He played some very solid minutes. Very athletic. Has a perimeter shot and the ability to finish with authority. His future is bright.
7) Do I need to say anything about Buddy? Clutch!
8) While Lon is undoubtedly one of Joe's best hires, Texas's team was also very well coached. Shaka Smart will take them places.
We stuck around after the game for our daughter to hopefully get autographs and pictures with the players. They did not disappoint!
Finally, I have to give props to Fran Fraschilla. We were lucky enough to talk with him at the afternoon shoot around and then after the game. Total class act.
Overall...a great experience for the entire family!
