Thanks. Anxious to see how Soonersports handles it. LIkely one camera with the radio broadcast as the voice over. I'm not a big Chris Plank fan, but I'm grateful to his dedicating a huge amount of his time to Sooner softball radio broadcasts.
I am not a fan of the one camera angle but its better than nothing. I think Plank isn’t the greatest but like you said he is dedicated to broadcasting the games.

The games on ESPN+ though should be much better with more cameras.

I get sick of his constant whining/talking about the weather...it's like he's auditioning for the weather channel

rough start so far
So far it seems it takes around 4 innings for the offense to get going but when they do, they can score in bunches.

Two games in is to early to be worried about the pitching but they have been hittable thus far. Hopefully they all start to find that groove by the end of the week.

They should run rule CBU today in the early game but Fullerton should be a good game in the late night affair.

And Tech is playing against quality teams, or at least teams I have heard of before. Half of the teams OU has played, are schools I've never heard of

Any threat from LMU today or Long Beach State tmrw?
We lit up their starting pitcher who got three outs and gave up six runs. The girl that replaced her was pretty solid. She gave up three runs in six innings pitched, only one until the 7th. We won 9-0 but it wasn't a run rule. We led 7-0 after six and then got two in the seventh. The best things so far, is that the young players started to come around. And especially that two new pitchers threw a lot of innings and looked very good.H

On the fifth game in three days, Sam Landry threw a complete game, four-hit shutout, throwing on her third consecutive day. She gave up a bunch of runs in game two on Thursday, but with some better fielding could have been much more productive. Game three of the weekend on Friday, Isabella Smith, the Campbell transfer, threw a five inning perfect game, against Cal Baptist. Not the greatest competition, but she was throwing on her second straight day. She threw 3.1 innings Thursday, 5 in the perfecto and then 2.1 more in the second game Friday. So in ten and two thirds, she gave up one hit total and filled up the zone. In her five inning perfect game, she only threw 51 pitches.

Freshman pitcher, Audrey Lowry was stellar in closing out the extra inning 11-6 win over San Diego State, allowing no runs and getting the win. But Patty was pushing her pitchers. Smith and Landry stood the test. Lowry in her second straight day started to lose it in her third inning, be was left in and gave up three runs. She did get the win, for a 2-0 weekend so far. But Patty is learning.

Overall KIerston Deal looks like the pitcher she's always been. Probably our third or fourth best pitcher. Maya Bland is our fourth or fifth best outfielder and Hannah Coor is fifth or sixth. Isabella Emerling is very solid behind the plate and has some power. And is slow on the bases. She's caught every inning. I believe we have in five games, had ten different players hit a home run. Three, Pickering, Parker and Tia Malloy have two. So the competition wasn't spectacular, but playing six games on the coast in four days, has pushed this team, and they've come through so far. The arms in the outfield are not as good as in the past four years, especially in center. but we've looked better than I expected.

Next weekend, we play four games in two days, against Baylor and Hofstra two apiece in Waco. We'll learn more.

In game 6, we're in the 6th no score. Both teams are playing good defense, and the plate ump is calling a large, erratic strke zone. T5, we had first and third with two outs, and Milloy had a two - strike count, then was called out for not getting into the box in ten seconds in end the inning. The captain has led off the sixth with a double, and LBS has changed pitchers.

Through six, still no score. Deal is pitching the best game I've seen her pitch. No hits through six and faced only 19 batter. Top of the order for OU.
OU has left 11 runners stranded and are currently 1-12 with RISP. Not sure why it shows 1-12 considering no runs scored unless I am missing something here.

This team is young and will grow as the season progresses but there may be some unexpected losses along the way

I've never been a fan of JT, with 6/9 batters being lefties, we should be playing small ball to get batters on base. He doesn't believe in small ball

In extras, it's gone from being a big zone to being a slanted zone. He's calling absurd strkes on us, and a tight strike zone on Smith who's in in relief. I'm a little pissed off.

But we got a huge break on a sac bunt in B9. Lead off on. Bunt moves the runner to second,, who rounds the bag,, tryng to draw a quick throw. Sanders makes her go back then throws her out. The replay showed the tag was a little late.

Interesting stat below

It had been 1,467 days since the Sooners were last shut out. That was a 1-0 loss in eight innings to Alabama in the 2019 College World Series. They have scored in all 211 games since. That equates to just over 4 years

And the one hit with RISP, Patty sent the runner from second when she was wishing. The outfielder got to the ball in pretty shallow left, Parker was still two strides from touching third. I know a lot of left fielders don't have great arms, but she was so shallos, she threw a strike, and beat the runner by five feet. The ball was right on the plate. Otherwise, we'd have had bases loaded with one out, and five-six coming up. Then Malloy followed by striking out by not getting in the box in ten seconds with a two-strike count to end the inning..

I think PG sending Parker was her just trying to create something considering OU had already loaded the basis twice prior to that and came up empty. Malloy not getting in the box was a huge mistake though.

This team kind of reminds me of the team a few years ago that early in the season struggled at the plate but eventually came along to be a great hitting team. I think our fanbase just needs to patient and not panic over it.

I think we also need to realize this team is going to lose more games this season than they have in the past. I can see this team losing 10-11 games this season but by seasons end PG will have them playing their best come postseason and should make another deep run at the WCWS.

I agree. Freshman players are one shy of making up 50% of the roster and we only have 3 seniors, two are pitchers. So we need to get a lot out of our junior and sophomore class. That’s a tall order but we have the best head coach in the NCAA in our corner.

In answer to the OP moving forward, for the forseeable future, about 80 to 90 percent of the games are on SEC Network+ on ESPN+. You won't be able to watch much of anything if you're not paying for ESPN+. I hate that, but it seems to be how it has to be. All five games this weekend will be there.

As long as it isn’t on Soonersports it’s all good. SEC and ESPN plus have decent camera angles. SP games viewing is rough due to only having one camera it seems.

If I remember correctly OU is set to be on either ESPN, E2, or E news 11 times. I think Tx and UF was about the same. Softball telecast on the main ESPN networks are gaining steam and it is deserved.

The ESPN+ camera angles come from OU's local broadcast. They just pick up the feed and broadcast it. That's why local pbp and color commentators are local. It's the OU broadcast from Norman. The bad camera angles were when Plank set up a wide angle camera to unbroadcasted Cali tournament games, just so we could have something to watch. And so far, it seems like OU student camera people are doing a pretty lousy job of following the ball when it's hit in the infield. Yesterday, there were at least a half dozen plays, that we never got to see a grounder in the infield, be fielded or thrown. I love it that we have something. Or maybe it was the director of the broadcast pushing the wrong button when selecting which camera to be shown on the broadcast.

I'm sure they'll get better?

Still crappy today. It would be better if they just showed the entire field and left it at that.

Who ever is running the camera and score board are probably students. They won't show the count, and are frequently wrong with who's on which base. Plus, even the replays suck. They show something completely not revelant to the game. With that being said, I've watched other games that we clearly worse with their 1 camera angle. At least they show the count.

Wasnt the recent 5 games this weekend all on SEC plus? Unless I am mistaken these broadcast are all ran by teams local schools broadcasters. I think its important to realize the folks running the cameras are likely college students who one day want to be a cameraman. Yes overall this weekend they done an overall bad job of following the ball paths.

I will go on record and say the ESPN plus games are better viewing camera wise. However one would think SECP games would be as good. Afterall it is owned by ESPN.
