When a win feels like a loss. I am at a loss to explain what just happened. It just looks like we are really behind on defensive recruiting.

Why go for 2? ISU had OU on the ropes and had the mo. Patterson threw away a game in Norman the same way several years ago.

I remember being ridiculed by a few on here for saying we may not be that great on defense. I saw signs of it early in the season. Remember when we let Kansas drive 98 yards for a TD? Things like that made me wonder. I wasn't ready to crown these guys, as some were, after beating South Dakota and a terrible UCLA team. Honestly right now I see absolutely no difference between last years D and this year

Can we not cover a TE? Can we tackle? Can we stop stupid play callling when it matters most? 35-14 at half...really Riley and Grinch? Take speed defense and shove it. A real disgrace and not too far off from the WV debacle last year,

Yes it does feel like a loss.Left a steamy turd on home turf in second half. So much for a bye week.

i admit I bought in to the defense over the first half of the season but the last 2 games have shown me I was fooled. KSU gave the blueprint and this D just no longer impresses.

Hurts needs to be a better thinker as that last pass was almost the dagger setting ISU up on a short field. Stupid throw and he is lucky he didn’t have 3 others picked off.

I no longer know what to expect for the rest of the season but if the D can’t contain the **** BU offense it needs to be really blasted even more than it is now.

I don’t know where we show in this weeks polls but FOXs projection of 6 is about 6 to high.

And his three touchdown passes consisted of two jump balls and a five yard pass in the flat that CeeDee added about 60 YAC.

No way we are going to be 6. At least I sure hope not! Can you imagine playing LSU or Ohio State?

I said early in the season that Hurts would more than likely take off running under pressure and he is doing exactly that. I don't mind the scramble from time to time but I think he is running way too much.

Just want the Sugar Bowl. We are no where near final 4 contenders. Pure luck is the only reason we won this game. Hurts should have had 3 picks. Defense was abysmal after the 1st quarter. Riley started off sound, but ultimately got into the same pass calling rut. I don't understand!

IMO, We are Highly Over Rated @ #9. We are an above average first half team...We can't put anyone away when we have the opportunity...

We took care of business against 3 inferior teams and got to thinking we are good...We're Not...

I agree as it seemed as if Riley decided to just call his Hurts this Hurts that calls. We have way to many talented RB not to be getting them the ball more and ISU showed us all why Hurts is no longer the QB at Bama. Any real pressure and he panics in a sense and takes off running. Maybe I am just spoiled but I like a QB who will stand in the picket and go through his reads before tucking and running.

Riley needs to keep his foot on the gas more also as his play calling became very stale. Discipline is a huge problem also for the defense as they commit way to many dumb penalties that extend drives. It really needs to be addressed.

This game should have never been close but what the hell did this defense work on in the bye week?

You sure we want the Sugar and face either Alabama or UGA?

Well I think we need to be fair to Hurts and understand that he is just not capable of being a passing qb like Mayfield and Murray. He is a run/pass kinda guy who relies more on the run. This was the problem at Bama. I honestly can't wait until Rattler has a few years under his belt. With the current group of receivers I think we have a chance to be really good.

Well I was wondering if K State was an anomaly but it was not. We are that bad and better teams have exposed us. Got lucky tonight and it would not surprise me if we drop maybe one or 2 more. All around horrible the last 2 games.
Playoffs? Lmao I sure as hell hope not but the Committee has seen what we see, no way they let this team in but I think we lose at least another so its a moot point.
I have had enough of this shitshow defense to last me 2 lifetimes.

Grinch’s defense is leaking again.
Offenses seem to have figured out how to limit the ability of Murray and Gallimore to make big plays. They have learned how to anticipate OUr line shifts, and what any particular shift is likely to lead to. They seem to be able to know where the blitzer is coming from. And it leaves us weakened in the secondary when the pressure doesn't get there.

If Kelly and Kelly are truly ready to play, we need to forget about redshirts and get them on the field. Right now, getting to the CCG is still up in the air, though of all things, the Lornhorn win today, helped us in that regard.

As the season has gone along, instead of having more players ready to be in the defensive rotation, there are fewer. We looked warn out in the second half. But when Gallimore and Murray aren't making big plays, OUr defense looks very vulnerable.

Wasn't the hype on Grinch was that he was bringing an 'attacking' defense to the Sooners? If so, what the hell are they attacking?

Generation of turnovers also absent. That is very disturbing to me. This late in the season especially. Should be getting better...but oh no.

Agree, and we were both challenged for concerns about the defense early on.
That's not important now as this team now seems to be regressing not only on defense, but also on offense as the OL struggles and only three players (Hurts, Brooks and Lamb) seem to be 90 % of OU's firepower.
My hope is that this season serves as a learning experience for Grinch and Bedenbaugh and that Rattler can become another iconic OU quarterback starting next year.

Wasn't that pass interference by Motley on Iowa State's 2-point conversion ? Motley was all over the receiver as the ball was coming into the receiver's hands.

This game reminded me of the guy that drank so much it was hard to believe that he got home safely. In other words, one lucky SOB. The second half was a total **** fire. The first Sooner TD should have been intercepted or broken up at the very least. CeeDee made a good catch on a ball that Iowa State defenders screwed the pooch. I got an idea. Let's not recruit over rated high school midgets like Bookie. Why is this guy even on scholarship at OU much less playing in real games. I know these aren't Grinch's guys but are they not coachable? Come on, man. Riley...…..I'm not even going there. The only thing that is pretty much of a given is that the remaining games are up for grabs. If you like drama then you are probably in for a good time. Me, I don't much like surprises, Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde games, and definitely not mid-game collapses like we all witnessed last night. I know this post is not Dude-like, but damn.

Last night is a prime example why these talking heads should wait until the game is over before making projections like this..... preferably they should have waited until Iowa State was in the locker room....just in case.

My wife and I said that at the same time on the first replay. And then the announcer showed how open the tight end was on a slugo route...I was counting on ISU to make the conversion because of how much my confidence in this team has faded.

Yep and ignoring the elephant in the room but attributing it to being a November game, LOL. What the hell difference does that make, it's freaking Iowa State?!?!
It's not the old Iowa State anymore. As long as Campbell is there it will always be a tough out! Love your fans and your respect for the game, but we will never get 4 and 5 star kids at ISU up and down the roster. We have to win in the margins and we are struggling with that right now. Great game guys, see ya in Ames next year!

Unfortunately, the last few games, as well as the past few years, that's the only way I make it through. :)

I sure hope he's 100% after the nasty head shot he took that as the announcers were proclaiming as the 'magnificent stripes' called then waved off...

has anyone said anything about how kolar got so wide open? he ran straight up and INTO the db, knocking our guy off his balance thus creating the "wide open". was offensive pass interference ALL DAY. i would've freaking lost my ever-lovin mind if that had gone down and no call. that being said, why purdy was looking at anybody else buy kolar is on purdy. call it reverse sooner magic? nah. more like dumb luck

I'll take the two point play as a clean steal of a bobble ball as maybe one of Motley's best plays in a Sooner uniform and leave it as called by the "best stripe crew in the game" and move on, praying we beat Baylor next week.

NFL - 5-yd contact rule
College - No distance. Contact is just fine as long as the ball isn't in the air.

Defenders (good ones) jam the receivers at the LOS. In our case, the receiver jammed our defender. He wasn't ready at all. We are soft on defense.
