Maine

At this point every other game left is a potential blowout. And I'm saying that with a full understanding that with a solid team, all those teams are very beatable.

Ole Miss is struggling.
Bama has big flaws.
Mizzou is looking highly overrated.
LSU kinda finding themselves but lost to a bad USC team and have looked pedestrian regularly.

We are just that bad. Maybe we get healthier but my god do these wide receivers just not want to play? Burks was dancing around pre-game then never a consideration to play him. The guys playing OL are the projected starters preseason.
You sure about beating Maine. I am not.

I believe a hiatus is in order for me. I'm not one for chaos and discombobulation at this point in my life. Way too many fish needin to be caught! So long and best wishes to all.

It may be better next year but maybe not. So you might want to hang in there for a while longer. You never know. BOOMER!

Screw the win loss record this year. We aren’t going anywhere this season. Start playing everyone the rest of the season and let’s see who really deserves to play. Surely some of these bench warmers will step up and surprise us. What have we got to lose?

Even though I haven’t watched the game yet ( not sure I will ) it wouldn’t matter if OU was still in the B12. They would still not be good or any better. SEC fans want you to believe its because of the SEC. It just isn’t.

This team just isn’t any good.

Is it the team or the players that the coaches have put on the field? Surely the last few classes have enough talent to perform better than what we’ve seen thus far. Or is it the coaching? Or both? A lot of questions. I’ve always felt that great coaches can make players better and more competitive. Maybe I’ve been wrong all these years.

Good ?. It has to all start with BV though I would think.

I agree, time to move on from BV. The whole Off staff at the very least. I know BV will get at least one more yr but he will have to have a complete turnaround from this season or its just another year wasted.
I think he has lost this team.

That's a bit over the top. Maine is not even an FBS program. They lost to Monmouth 51-22. OU will be a 42 point favorite over Maine.
Well we are the worst team in the SEC. I am sure Maine will give it their best shot. Bowl game for them.
And it appears that BV has lost this team so anything can happen I suppose.

Maybe it is but until this team can score TDs, losing to Maine isn’t out of the question. I highly doubt this team will be a 42 pt favorite with the offensive struggles.

Why are we even talking about Maine? Who cares about that game. We are most likely going to end up winning 1 SEC game this year. Thats pathetic. I can't believe we are this bad.

How has he lost the team? Don't get me wrong, that's my greatest fear for this program right and there's a dark cloud hanging over Norman. But the defense is playing hard til the end of blowouts.

Players quitting, not doing their job. Does Sharp know how to block? How can a junior TE not know how to block?
Barnes running like he needs only one yd.
I can't blame the defense for not playing hard when the offense is this bad and digs a hole too deep to climb out of.
I could be wrong of course and probably won't know for sure until we see a bunch of players bolting for the Portal at Seasons end.

Sharp is a converted QB, only been playing TE for a few seasons and that was at Southeast Louisiana, so not the greatest of competition. Not sure why the true freshman Mitchell isnt playing 6'3 260 and knows how to block.

Well we are the worst team in the SEC.

Mississippi State is hands down the worst team in the SEC right now. For all of OU's struggles on offense, when they don't turn the ball over multiple times, OU is about even with Auburn, Arkansas, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

I really don't think OU could beat Vandy or Kentucky and probably shouldn't have beaten Auburn

How about 2-6 Georgia Southern, in last place in the Sunbelt Conference. Did you think they would beat Vanderbilt? South Carolina demolished Kentucky at Kentucky 31-6 and held the Wildcats to 183 total yards. Auburn lost at home to Cal-Berkley, the worst team in the ACC (17th place out of 17 teams). See, the problem with these threads is that anyone can cherry-pick a game or two to make their point.

If MSu and OU played this coming Saturday? My money would be on MSU. Anyone with common sense would pick MSU

I'll respectfully disagree. There are plenty of people with common sense who would pick OU over a team on a 6-game losing streak, who got blown out at home by Toledo, but to each their own.

We're getting worse. If we played Auburn Saturday I wouldn't feel great about it. We were lucky to beat them in the first place.
Right now if I had to bet $100 straight up on the remaining games I would take the opponent in every game except Maine. Mississippi, Missouri, Alabama, LSU. No way would I risk $100 on any of those guys. Now between now and then something may happen to improve the bet but that’s a long shot.

Teams left to play and chances to beat them?

Ole Miss. 15%
Maine. 70%
Mizzou 30%
Bama. 20%
LSU. 1%

Probably to high on all but Maine

Ole Miss 12.1%
Maine 98.1%
Missouri 31.1%
Alabama 22.3%
LSU 23.0%

I remember at the beginning of tje Season when a lot of Talking Heads were saying OU would win 6 games and most Sooner fans mysekf included were like no way we only win 6. Now we will be very lucky to get 6.
What a crap Season this turned out to be and with the troubles at OU right now I don't see next year being a whole lot better unless changes are made.

Does anyone think Staff changes will be made after the Season? I give it about a 30% chance.

I worry more about us becoming the new “Nebraska”. Surely Joe isn’t going to wait and let that happen.

"New Nebraska"? You mean like having 7 consecutive losing seasons? Even the dismal OU teams of the 90's only had three losing seasons.

Nebraska fans never thought it would happen to them when they made the move. I doubt any of our fans thought the same. Let’s just hope our Sooners don’t suffer the same fate. Hopefully this season is just a wash and not a trend for the future.
