No way I thought they could run the ball on us like that, even when we had to move Alexander to the middle...again. Also got MAJOR PO'd at Quick.

Better team won, and I'm already over it but family coming over, but I was wrong.

I think I'm gonna screenshot this thread!!! Lol :p:D I'm joking man!!!

ST, tonight's game was brutal. In the end, everyone was wrong. I don't think anyone on here thought Clemson would come out and enforce their will on OUs defense like that. I know we all saw it happen in the Texas game. But this team made huge strides since then that it was hard to think it would or could happen again. Wow....were we wrong as ever!!

They were the better team, again. I've been wrong both times against them, and oh how painful to type it. Damn offense looked as offensive as the TexASS game...

We were ahead at the half and had momentum in spite of being tricked twice in the first. The loss of the the LB and then the backs hurt, a lot. We had no answer for their dominating O-line and running game in Q3. The loss hurts but we didn't expect to get that far this year anyway.

Good game to Clemson.

The OL got manhandled most of the game, but didn't we have 3 freshman starting? Young OL that will only get better over time. Offense couldn't help out the defense and they were gassed late in the 3rd quarter. Bottom line, sans the ST mistakes and injuries, OU has got to get better in the trenches. Btw, OU better get a lot better quick because next season's schedule is BRUTAL with Houston (just beat FSU in the Peach Bowl) and Ohio State to start the season with TCU and Texas following that.

Not sure why, I've admitted the same MANY times before as MANY others will attest to. An open mind is a wonderful thing, I encourage others to try it.

Two freshmen starters. Brown held his own. Samia had a tough night. But he's a true freshman, playing in a position where that's really tough. Brown redshirted last season.

Speaking to ST's point, we really missed Walker more than they missed Shaq. I think the humidity got to OUr big guys a little. I may be wrong, but I was surprised that I never saw Overton. I have a hunch about that, but it would be a pure guess. But instead of seven guys alternating at three positions, we only had five, and the one I consider the best one was missing. They looked gassed at the end of the half, and then came out for the second half looking not so rested. It was a really muggy night. I wish we'd have played at night, like every other Orange Bowl in the last 45 years. Then when Evans pulled a pec, it hurt. Frank is a really competent back up, but he's not played a lot and he didn't shine.

We made a lot of mistakes that they didn't make and we got several tough breaks. But mostly Clemson was just really good. I don't think Baker had even normal time to throw it, close to half the time. BV used a lot of the same pass rush plan Texas did, with a non rushing spy at the los part of the time, and coming by delay part of the time. They really messed with OUr pass block reads, and had a great plan to limit Mayfield's scrambling. But the biggest factor was that their 4-3 defensive ends were as fast as he was. They tackled him better than anybody had all season. We didn't tackle their quarterback very well.

When we lost the momentum with first the ULC on Flowers, and then the fake punt shortly after, followed by the gadget to get them to the goal line on the next snap, the game momentum swung and we never could get much going after that. But once we lost both Mixon and Perine, we really lost any chance to come back. And it hung the defense out to dry. I think we had over 90 defensive snaps.

I will be likely pulling for Clemson. No SEC, thank you. And they're good enough to get after Bama pretty good. I wonder of Shaq will be able to play. They didn't need him Thursday.

When we started out with a 3 DL front I told my son the game was lost. Clemson ran at will. Will never understand why Mike Stoops would do that against a running team/qb even with the loss of Walker. That defense was horrendous in 2013, 2014, 2015 against Texas and again against Clemson. Really questioning if having a brother for a defensive coordinator is good for any football team.

I became concerned when the camera panned Bob Stoops before the game even started. He was sweating. I told my wife he either new something we didn't know or it was really hot and humid. Second thought of trouble was when the announcers said Clemson was practicing in an enclosed area with the heat turned up high for weeks. Last was when it was obvious the defensive front seven were gassed in the first quarter............

Bob looked normal prior to game.

I moved from Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada to Homestead AFB just south of Miami. 9% humidity to 97%. I promptly went from 197 pounds to 137. Docs told me to drink milk shakes at the service club every day at lunch and eat plenty of hamburgers at Royal Castle.

Later move to Clinton-Sherman AFB, OK was like moving to the Mojave Desert.

Even with the stifling humidity, OU has still won more Orange Bowl classics than anyone.

We only had five big guys available for the game apparently. He may have intended to play some more four man front, but had his hands tied by the injury. You never know. I never saw Overton in the game. Might have missed him. But with the sagging play after the first 25 minutes, it's hard to believe that they wouldn't have played him at least a little, if he was available.

Ya I don't recall seeing Overton either. OU needs to make more spots on the roster for DL if the position is so thin Mike couldn't go to 4 DL with the loss of one guy.

We were able to slow down their running game until Evans got hurt. Moving Alexander and not having Walker was a killer.

Before the game a lot of you guys was saying that there is no way that Watson is as good as Boykin. Do you still have that same opinion. Granted Deshawn didn't have as good of a passing game than he usually have. Just curious if your opinions of him have changed?

Will be surprised if he has anywhere near the success against Bamas front 7. They are deeper than we are and we were missing 2 key players after the 1st quarter.

Boykin is on another planet. I think Dotson is still of this earth.

On a halftime show this afternoon, an observer said he has NEVER seen defensive line DEPTH of Alabama.

That explains why Watson was at the Heisman ceremony and Boykin wasn't, he was on another planet
I know you guys keep singing the same praises about the GREAT Alabama, we will see; this won't be the first time that we have heard that.

I was at the time game and the Clemson line (both sides) won at the point of attack, it was obvious in the first half they were starting to win those one on one battles. As to the heat, I sat on the OU side and it was blazing until the sun set behind the stands. Having less bodies probably hurt, but I would a season full of conditioning would have helped.

While I am not sure if OU could have overcome being beat on the lines, I did see some things that LR didn't take advantage of that might have helped, motion seemed to free the receivers and gave us underneath opportunities, the pursued so aggressively that some misdirection could have worked, and the corner covers worked the sidelines great, not sure whey we kept on taking those shots, the middle was where we could make plays.
