It's amazing that DeLaurier is our fifth best recruit this cycle. This kid is pretty skilled with the ball for his size.

Could he steal some minutes along side Amile and Harry in a 3-forward lineup? I'd love to see if that could work. If we somehow end up losing Allen, Harry, Tatum and Bolden (in addition to Matt and Amile), we'll be so pleased to have this young man waiting in the wings. Thanks for choosing Duke, Javin! Cameron will love your energy.

He's got some pep in his step. Obviously we won't be able to tell how his game will immediately translate into the college level, but he does look talented. I think many people are wondering if there's going to be any minutes for him in a typical ACC game? Any chance he red-shirts? He seems too talented to red-shirt, but I'd hate to see him use a year of eligibility if he's not cracking the rotation.

Obviously it's hard to tell from mixtapes, but I've seen a few with him hitting some jumpers. Seems like he really has some range. Is it consistent?

He has the same skill set and role as Amile. And before people start saying "look he shoots better, or jumps higher" or anything along those lines, just remember, in the framework of a team, it's about roles. I've seen Javin a few times and while those highlights look nice, he still gets pushed around on the blocks and he blocks shots in space but not in traffic. But he's a smart, smart player and while it may take him a year to sit, watch and get acclimated, he'll contribute in practice and build towards a nice three more seasons at Duke.

According to Steat, he loved Duke and that is how K trapped him.

Watch him play in high school, I think you will be surprise with how good he is. Really was hoping we would get him, don't be shock if he is in the rotation.

Assuming the absence of injury--never a save assumption, unfortunately--DeLaurier projects to be behind Giles, Jefferson, Bolden and Jeter in the interior rotation. For him to be in the rotation either he would have to leapfrog one of those four or K would have to play 10 guys (adding Tatum, Kennard, Allen, Jackson and Jones).

I hope DeLaurier is good enough to make that happen. But it might be tough.

The kid is gonna be a real glue guy for us down the road but I don't see him getting anymore than garbage minutes this year. We're too talented and too deep.

I know my opinion don't mean nothing about Duke because I'm a UK fan.

But just like I tell my fellow UK buddies, the coach will play the players that best fit their system.

Both of us have amazing incoming freshman but the roster isn't set around them if they aren't ready.

I would say, both Duke and UK will have several different starting line ups during the season. Come March, who knows who will be in the rotation.

I hope he does redshirt . He has a ton of potential, and minutes will be hard to find among that group of post players ( and Tatum as the de facto 4 when K goes small). He could take another year to physically mature and grow and it would only benefit him.

I hope he plays when other options are playing lazy ball. The threat of injury is what redshirt years are for.
