Our gashed D

Can we make just one adjustment - maybe containment? If we take the QB on an option edge run there is no one to take the RB until he's already 9 yards down field. Consistently. Or any sweep, we just cannot contain. Granted we got ripped up the gut so many times that its pick your poison with our rush D, but basic containment, please. That, and spy the QB at some point if he's going to run it that many times.

In hindsight, Baylor was a recipe for disaster - we've been desperately looking to shore up busts in the secondary, but Baylor was determined to run it on us (which we should have seen coming - Bohanon is a mediocre passing QB). But the failure of in-game adjustments on either side of the ball was just eye-opening - a collective staff failure. "Playoffs!?!?!?"

Baylor was just not our day - when even Brkic gets an F (KO out of bounds and missing his FGs), you know you are in for a long day.

But either this staff makes adjustments vs ISU and @oSu or hopefully Riley nuts up and cuts dead wood. The CB coach needs to be toast already IMO (and that Grinch coaches safeties is concerning, to say the least). We have not faced great QBs this year (Casey Thompson set a career high vs OU and then KU - that should tell you something), and this secondary has still struggled. I believe resetting the D to help the struggling secondary is why we did so poorly vs BU vs the run; that we didn't get beat that badly in the passing game does not change that basic fact - its just allowed BU to take advantage of our over-compensation.

I thought we were in trouble before the game. I was pretty sure we were in trouble when usually sure-handed Stoops dropped a pass early (he dropped two on the day). I knew we were in trouble when quirky Brky missed two field goals. It was a winnable game. I"m not blaming the loss on the refs, but they chose not to throw a flag on two clear PIs on Baylor. We aren't going to get any close calls by the Big 12 crews on our way out of the conference, you can bet on that... but we shouldn't need them.

Two things

1. Our defense got worn out, they did enough to win the game and played strong for about 3 quarters. The offense didn't give them anything and finally got tired.

2. We miss White, Bonito and Ashomore are good pass rusher but they get out of position. The 1st two games they were awful. Kelley was good but losing both knees slowed him down, but he and White do not make Big mistakes. Sucks about Kelley!
Having Stuntman in, didn't help. He will be great but he's a true freshman and doesn't react, he's still thinking.
