You are 100% right on this. The left is failing on free speech. What is happening is that Liberals (which involves adhering to classical liberal principles) and Progressives used to be one and the same and now they splitting. Liberals are still classical liberals whereas Progressives are deciding there are times and places when speech isn't free or when minority rights aren't protected, etc. But if you pick and choose when certain rights apply then you don't actually believe the rights apply.
