Seems like a real possibility to me.

1) I know we were high on him out of HS.

2) He’s a dual threat guy which seems to fit the style of offense Lujan wants (think of all the running opps Stone had that he couldn’t leverage bc he’s slow).

3) He’s already a graduate and only has 1 year of eligibility left.

4) As much as we are all excited about O’Brien I can’t imagine he’s going to open the new palace as a true freshman.

So what kind of stats?

This is doable but a stretch. He was paid $1.5 M last year by Mizzou upon his transfer from PSU. He didn't have an amazing year but played pretty well for a top 25 team and didn't lose his job, so that $1.5M seems like a low end baseline starting point for his services. CGC has indicated our QB budget is lower than that, so the coins in the couch cushions would need to be found now.

Do you suppose that Mizzou is not willing to reup at that amount?

From the stats he is basically Stone redo with a little better completion % and a better runner.

Probably not, but Mizzou has a lot of options. Pribula came into the season in a time share at QB out of camp, but the other half of the share got hurt right away. When Pribula got hurt, a talented freshman started playing as well, so they have to basically choose to to play and pay, can't pay em all.

At first I thought the same thing when I looked at his stats, but when I clicked on his highlight videos, I realized that his running ability makes him a really dynamic player. I say we should definitely go after him.

Yeah 100%. I’d be a little disappointed tbh if we didn’t at least take a good swing at him.
Illinois is reportedly recruiting him heavily. Have to assume the price will probably be high. Supposedly Altmeyer got $1.5M from them and Big Bert is talking about how they got a lot more NIL money to use this offseason. Maybe we will get lucky and they can’t afford to buy a pricey QB because they have to replace their OLine too

Why is it so common for NU fans to fall in love with the next Ivy league grad athlete? For my part I would rather find the diamond who spilled someone else's blood out on a junior college field in Kansas. I could care less about the institution's academic pedigree. And yes, I know all about admittance, etc but directionally that's my attitude. A player from South Central Bofunk works just fine for me if he is big, ugly, mean, fast ....

Well, where I agree with you, I think you answered your own question. The admissions challenge is real and an Ivy player should make the grade so we as fans tend to face that reality.

The issue is that Ivy League guys already have that degree in hand, so NU’s primary recruiting tactic doesn’t really hit. IMO most of those guys want the “football experience“ for their last year.

Find the best players wherever they are…prep school, JUCO, Ivy, MAC, I couldn’t care less as long as they can play. Adjust your pitch based on the individual, that’s who it’s called “recruiting” and not drafting.
