Our offense is horrible

Sorry but Marty is no good.

Sorry to say, but our best QB play this year was Hunter against MSU. Marty for a few series against Duke was promising, but otherwise, he’s been terrible the last couple of games. Hilinski had some flashes.

We can’t possibly just have terrible QBs. It’s the line. It’s the OC. I don’t know what it is, but we just plain blow.

Play Hunter Johnson. He deserves another shot after this mess.

Or maybe Richardson.

I don't know, but this sucks.

Now Hilinski gets a second chance, down 35-0 heading into the 4th quarter.

Our inability to develop at least a serviceable QB in nearly a decade is criminal.

Time to put in the entire second string especially on defense and see if they can do anything

On the scoop and score I was yelling, you have to score! If you get tackled the offense will get zero points!

All QBs throwing interceptions.

Surely the QBs share some blame, but if it's a problem for all the QBs, surely there must be more to it?

Nothing wrong with Helinski that an OL and some WRs wouldn't cure
I generally agree. Look at his numbers as a freshman in the SEC.

Marty is Aidan Smith-level. Of course, he was Aidan Smith’s backup. Maybe Marty only thrives with Coco to give him confidence.

No. Not when the throws are off target and wobbly by Hilinski. And telegraphed in the case of Marty.

Play the other guy whatever his name is. Hilinski isn't the answer. And let the 4th stringer throw a pass this time.

I missed the first hour of the game...

Did we ever try rolling Marty out (to his right) and having him make decisions about running or throwing?
That and "throw deep to Robinson" were really all we had available.

I just saw a lot of Marty standing in the pocket under pressure, throwing interceptions into coverage.

It's been a frustration for a while, but tough defenses have hidden underwhelming offensive performances in the recent decade. Okay, so it might be hard to have a top flight offense and a top flight defense. Well it is time for some type of innovation on NU's offense. I don't know what it looks like, but gotta do something. When NU came out in 2000 with the spread offense, it was an innovation that had NU viewed as one of the top offenses in the Big Ten with the Michigan game being a critical point for the system:

I heard somewhere that this was Fitz' strategy - ball control offense with a tough defense. But if you can't move the ball consistently, that strategy is busted. I don't think NU went from having a Top 10 defense nationally to a porous defense, but seems like the bad offense is making it harder for a defense that might otherwise be just decent (neither great nor bad). I don't have the answer, but it feels like it is time for the program to try something drastically different - Air Raid, Run & Shoot, Triple Option, Veer, West Coast, Pistol....I don't know but something different. it just feels like NU's offense is just too conservative, especially where there might be games against more talent teams.

If you have a strong offensive line, you can ride that to production, even if it is boring to watch.
We don't have a good offensive line.
Stephon Robinson is a good wide receiver. Hull is pretty good too.
But it starts with the offensive line... and the quarterback.

I would absolutely support NU hiring an OC to come and run triple-option.

Let’s let Minitron run it next year.
