With the way we have been playing, we might win one more game (might). I doubt we beat UL and we finish with a 5-7 record for a second straight year. If the schedule wasn't so bad I could see a 5-7 record being somewhat okay. Unfortunately, this was a schedule built for a much better record.

If we finish with only 5 wins, we again miss out on the extra practice time. With the poor coaching though, we probably don't benefit from the extra practices. I am afraid the recruiting class will start to tank again. We might also start to see players transferring out while they still have a chance to be successful somewhere else.

At the minimum, Coach Stoops has to replace a number of assistants if he is serious about wanting to stay here. It might buy him a couple more years. If he stays with all his assistants, I can see next year being his last without major improvements. He needs experienced coaches by his side and not ones needing on the job training.

He also needs to change up the systems we are using on offense and defense. The 3-4 defense won't work here and we have to move to a hurry up attacking offense. You can't win here playing conservative. We need to play like a Baylor or TCU and try and outscore teams. If nothing changes, I am just afraid Barnhart won't bring in anyone better. Maybe throw out like $5 million a year and try and get a big name in here. Surely someone out there would like the challenge of building a team from scratch and not just going somewhere that can win with most any coach.

At least we have a great basketball team to fall back on and we can get ready to start saying wait until next year for football.
