So Oweh reminds me off Isaiah Briscoe. Can have a motor, can drive to the rim, can sometimes shoot the three, but seems like has an selfish attitude. I feel like Oweh did too much against U6, and just didn't play good team ball. Briscoe did the same. There were flashes of good from Oweh last night but he lacks major consistency. His +/- was abysmal.

I disagree about Briscoe being selfish. I remember him being a team player. He averaged about 4apg for his career and his a/t ratio was close to 2:1. He was also an outstanding rebounder for his size. Briscoe’s problem was he couldn’t shoot.

Oweh I think has several issues. Number one he is not a shooter either, he’s a slasher. If we aren’t knocking down shots, his driving lanes disappear. Number two his handle sucks and he is careless with the ball. Number three he is a soft-spoken guy and we need him to be a leader. We need him to take care of the damn ball, value each possession, make the smart play, don’t force things, and play tough defense. So far this year he has done very few of those things. Remains to be seen whether he’ll get his head out of his *** or not.

I understand that he may be “playing for the scouts” as some have suggested, but if that’s the case, Pope needs to remind him he’s already being paid handsomely. I don’t care what your preseason accolades were. Earn your keep or ride the pine. Calzada is making $$ and got benched after 17% of the season because he wasn’t getting it done. Shouldn’t be any different with Oweh.

I think OO can be a great player, but he has to understand his strengths and weaknesses. Great defender, bull going to the basket, but I have no confidence when he throws up one of those knuckleball threes. He should pick his spots and take those only when he is wide open and can take the time for that hitch he has in his release, if he does that he shoots it OK, but when he forces it, it gets ugly

Kid can’t shoot. That’s a problem. Go back and watch the game, they didn’t even attempt to guard him half the time he was on the court. Sag off and just wait. That really nullified a lot of what Lowe can and should be able to do with the ball in the half court. Add to that Garrison and MD also not being able to shoot, it’s a miracle we were even in the game with 4 to go. Credit to DA and CC. I’d like to see AJ get more run, he showed some poise.

I was thinking Poythress, just based on his athleticism.

They both can be explosive around the basket.

Briscoe, yeah last night it seemed much like him.
did you ever see Poythress dribble on the perimeter? horrible comparison

Oweh always played hard on defense last year, but he wasn't the same last night. Anyone else notice how much skinnier he has gotten? Is he trying to transform his body to play in the NBA? Quicker, leaner, etc.
Last year he was a tank.

Foolishly bought into the preseason hype.

Maybe MD is better suited coming off the bench like at Alabama. Moreno in my opinion should be starting over Garrison.

DA and CC battled last night. I would hope KW gets on the floor more. I know he has struggled until last night but there is a reason the NBA scouts are high on his potential and OO wasn't.

RR could play. He had NBA and didn’t take advantage

Oweh does not have NBA talent.

Big difference in Oweh and Briscoe. Briscoe was a complimentary piece. Oweh can take over games (when he does, it's usually in the 2nd half), Briscoe couldn't do that.

My question would be is why dont we ever post Oweh up. He is quick and strong and you would think that would be a scenario that might benefit him and his game. Just a thought because expecting him to be like Brea from outside isn't happening.

Oweh is a really good player. He does miss a lot of layups though. We need him to be even better than he was last season.

That's actually high praise. Briscoe is what you got if you put an Abrams tank at 2 guard. In my opinion he was an exceptional college guard, tough and physically brutal. Accusations of him not being a team player are wrong but... he was a hero. In a tight spot he took a lot on himself instead of leveraging the other four. Common for a top ranked recruit out of high school.

Oweh just didn't have a good game. I suspect he would be the first to agree with that. At his level, the most important thing he can do is forget it. Tune out the boo bennies and get back to his game. I suspect his coaches are telling him just that.

Oweh can actually finish at the rim. And hit shots. There's a reason his nickname is Brickscoe Good dude, played hard, but shooting was just not his thing.

Briscoe was far from selfish. He was a top rated pg in his class that never got the chance to play pg because of better options and did whatever the team needed included defending bigger players, rebound, and be a glue guy.
I agree with this and always thought people were unfair to Briscoe. He wasn't the most talented guy ever but he always played hard.

He did. The problem was every time the ball left his hands it was usually as good as a TO. Also, the man stepped on the damn baseline more than any soul in history at UK.

He did. And when he did get a chance to fill in for Fox at pg, I think he either had or flirted with a triple double. Worked his way to get on a NBA and was a point guard again. He sacrificed his development and pro career for the team.

Oweh has recently returned from injury. You guys complain and insult players if they are out because of injury and equally so if they try to play while less than 100%. At the very least it has compromised his conditioning.
