Ozigbo & Abdullah

Watched the Vikings-Saints preseason game, and both had decent showings, albeit against backups. On Ozigbo's first touch he scooped a pass off the carpet and gained 9 for a first down, his first carry went for 11 and a first down. He finished with 20 yards on 3 carries, and the 9 yards receiving. I think he has a decent chance of making the 53 man roster. Abdullah's performance was more mixed. He had a really nice 42 yard run and finished with 63 yards on 4 carries, but on one carry he dropped the ball without being touched and turned it over. The Vikes have decent (and young) depth at RB, I won't be shocked if Ameer gets released, but hopefully his versatility and value as a kick returner will be enough for the Vikes to keep him around.

Unfortunately Abdulla has always had a bad case of the fumbles while in the NFL. I cant remember but maybe did while at Nebraska too....

Hoping to see Ozigbo with more carries these next couple of games.

Ameer has small hands. It's one of the reasons Callahan used to and many other NFL types really pay attention to things like the size of a guys hands. The stories I read out of the Viking camp is that Ameer pretty well has the return job locked up for the Vikings. We'll see. They like his big play potential and work ethic.

He wouldn't fumble very much, only at the worst possible times.

I believe we squandered comeback opportunities in the first bowl game against Georgia, and in the loss against Michigan State where Cotton had that weird false start where he just fell backwards on his butt.

If I remember, correctly, we were in position to either take the lead or get close to taking the lead in the opponent's territory when Ameer fumbled and basically iced each game for the bad guys.

The Georgia one came to mind first. He also fumbled on the first play coming out of halftime against UCLA. Beck gave up on the run after that even though we were killing them with it.

Edit: UCLA 2012 at rose bowl.
