Salaries in this country are not truly based on their value to the general population. For years, nurses were terribly under paid in the medical profession. It was one of those professions that was considered a life work and the person doing it was not supposed to get "rich" doing it. There are countless other very important professions that are in similar situations. These are people we all count on to help us have the lives we want.
Those involved in entertainment, be it actors, singers, athletes, etc. may make our lives more enjoyable, but they are not the ones you look towards in times of trouble.

Not sure how the Pops thread became what it has- but my 2 cents. Someone mentioned D Jones and his Giant's salary and equated it to ticket prices.
Do you think ticket prices made any move at all based on his pay?
And while we all know the player salaries and the coaches- when is the last time anyone really opened up the financial records of the owners?

Don’t forget that there was a group that said he didn’t know how to run.
While not among those.. I did think that sometimes he did the jump cut randomly.. not really seeing a hole.. just three steps then change of direction, etc etc. Sometimes right into traffic.

He got better. Perhaps,, more patient.

We have the right to do all sorts of stuff. Doesn't mean we have to do it.

Fans know how much they spend on a team. They have no real need whatsoever to know how that money is spent.

People think they deserve to know everything about everybody these days. IMO, they don't. We've become a rumor mongering, privacy eschewing, busybody society. Rudeness is overtaking politeness and classiness in our culture. Sucks.
You have no right to tell others what you think of their interest in player wages and team salaries.

Oh, wait.. you do.

And you are wrong. but that is your right, right?

He made it up just like most of the crap we see on message boards. People will believe that crap.

Schiano called him a pro early on and Millen also said he was a pro. Those are guys I will listen to and believe.
spot on

Almost always depends where you get your shot. Pacheco to the Jets and he’d be out of the league for a few years by now.

Loved him as a player, but much of NJ’s HOFer Franco Harris’ glory and stats are due to the tremendous talent of the entire team.

and he's one of the KC players that makes other players look good and together make the Chiefs a great team.
Migh not be a NFL HOFer like Franco, but "Pop". is one of the reasons why the Chiefs are considered one of the best

this is true

I always said that if Marco was drafted by Pittsburgh, he'd be in the HOF instead the Bengals took him in rd 2 a year after they took McGee in rd 1.

all about where you land and the cast around you

Marco is a great guy by the way, pure awesome and probably just as good at bball as football

This thread prompted me to look this up.

RU career rushing yard leaders:
  • Ray Rice (2005-07) 4,926.
  • Terrell Willis (1993-95) 3,114.
  • “JJ” Jennings (1971-73) 2,935.
  • Bruce Presley (1992-95) 2,792.
  • Brian Leonard (2003-06) 2,775.
  • Glen Kehler (1975-78) 2,567.
  • Isaih Pacheco (2018-21) 2,442.
Rice in first place by over 1800 yards, lol. Of course, if Willis would have come back for his senior year, it would be much closer.
Rice had only 3 years on the Banks too. Rice and Leonard caused a lot of problems for opponents back in the day. Kinda like Thunder and Lightning back in the 90s ⛈️⚡

Marco to the Hall on any team is an extreme stretch. Great college player, but c’mon now. It’s extremely unlikely for any player, even less so for a TE. Last 25 years, who ? Probably Witten and Gronk and ?

Which brings me back to my first point. Without Mahomes I highly doubt Travis Kelce makes the Hall and Taylor Swift definitely wouldn’t have looked at him twice. He wouldn’t have even tried.

If any player in history benefitted more on and off the field from teammates and coaches than Kelce, I can’t think of him.

Not for nothing but it seems almost every great TE played with a Great QB for most of their career. Gronk- Brady, Gonzalez- Ryan, Gates-Rivers, etc

Marco in Pittsburgh would have been incredible given the offense, team etc.. every TE we had was a pro bowler.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but Pop popped Wiggins pretty good last night.

Can't seem to post the link, because NFL won't allow it, apparently. But just search YouTube for something like this... Isiah Pacheco hit on Wiggins.

Willis split time with Presley as well.
Every time Willis touched the ball you knew it could go all the way.

Marco was THE guy opposing defenses worried about. I had two, one PSU and one Miami defensive player tell me under no illusion that he would start for them and was the guy to stop. He was legit and targeted for round 1 of the draft. You may be young but he was incredible on the field. Plus he got to hang with Bob Hope during his all American party.

Many more of Gonzalez’s years were with the Chiefs.
Tony was the leading receiver and #1 target 7 out of the 12 years he was with the Chiefs .
He might not have had HOF QBs, but had the type of HOF talent that made ordinary QBs look for him
With a good QB maybe Tony KC team might have reached the playoffs more than 3 times in his 12 years there

Young I ain’t. Probably a starter at Miami or PSU means nothing. Great college TE but never demonstrated anything to suggest HoF potential.
