Looks like I'm gonna hit up Peninsula tomorrow. Hoping to correct some things from my second outing of the season.

I've always been hesitant to do the club fitting. I can go into a golf store and pick up clubs and swing them great on the simulator, but go out and not be near as effective. I always worry that I would get fitted based on the simulator and it would screw my game up more and be wasted money.

I'm off to my worst start since I picked the game up. Broke 100 for the first time this year out of 10 rounds I played the other day. Normally I'm a 9 - 10 handicapper.

I'm going to get some game improvement irons, probably JPX 850's, but my swing is too broke to get a full fitting. Crappy position to be in. I'll keep plugging away, but it's not fun right now.

If you have broken 100 only 1 time out of 10 this year I simply can't believe you have ever been a 9-10 handicap. Maybe you are but I'd have to see a GHIN card first.

GHIN app is down or I would show you. Actually I wouldn't because I really don't care what you think.

Yips are real. Happens to at least one person I play with every year.

I'm not worried. I'll right the ship.

Played High Point yesterday before the rain hit and it looks like it is under new management.

A lot of work being done to it with new tee boxes being built on numerous holes. Greens were in real good shape and the fairways are coming along.
I always considered High Point the Gold standard of area goat ranches, and it looks like it will continue to be a very good less expensive option.

Played there a couple of times and really enjoy it. Very nice course for the price.
I believe they were sold late last year.

The course was sold. The folks from Taylor Made Farm bought it. Problem with the course was that the HOA owned the land so course owners didn't want to invest heavily in it to keep it up since HOA owned the property.

Two courses that a lot of people like and are listed in magazines as top public courses in Kentucky are Old Silo and The Bull...I walked away from both unimpressed with all the pub they get.
I'd take Griffin Gate, and Kearney Hills over those two any time.

Well good for you. But going from a 9-10 to a 25-ish is a huge difference. Like I said you may be telling the truth but this is the Paddock so I assume everyone is full of shite until shown otherwise.

Not one complaint from me about the Bull or Boone's Trace as they call it now. Always in good condition, good layout and fun to play.

Making bunker changes/improvements now, and landscaping changes to all the par 3's to improve aesthetics. Course was solid on Sunday.

Not saying it wasn't a nice course, it just didn't seem any different than several others. I think Houston Oaks is highly underrated, and would put it above the two I mentioned.

Played Old Silo a few times 7-10 years ago, and thought it was a great public track.

Still think Heritage Hill in Shep is my favorite around here, love that course.

I'm no where near a 25. I went up to a 15.2. I'm having a bad start to the year. Do you know how handicaps work? I'm guessing you must be a really consistent golfer and never had a bad stretch.

Old Silo is a great track. It's just out of the way. They haven't done a great job up keeping it. Way too many bunkers to up keep.

I love Heritage Hill. Haven't played there in a couple of years though. Wish I lived closer than an hour and a half away.

Yes I know how handicaps work. And no, I'm horribly inconsistent. I was basing the 25 on your last 10 rounds for comparison sake.

My whole game is a bad stretch. You are getting all bent out of shape for no reason. I gave you the benefit of the doubt on the handicap. But going from an 8-10 to not being able to break 100 is a pretty drastic change. Not crazy to question a change like that. I'll leave it at that.

Still hitting my X14's. I got the irons from someone at MCC in exchange for my UK football tickets. I have PW, SW and A wedge. When is the proper time to use the A wedge ? I had never had a A wedge so I do not know or care to look up when to use it compared to a SW or PW. Terrible golfer, never had lessons, self taught. But I can go out and play with a group of good players and not get ran off the course. I just have never taken the time to learn about the one club in my bag. Thanks for anyone who knows and shares it.

Went yesterday for the first time since last year and broke a 100. Shot a 96. It made me happy. I swore last time out I was quitting looks like this game wrapped me in once again!

I've sat on the couch a few times after rounds wondering if it's worth it to keep playing. Been there.

Shot a 117 today...haven't shot that bad in three years. :(

The second cut at Peninsula is brutal!
I bitched out on several wedge shots, and ended up shanking them. Entire game was a disaster today.

You should probably take up tennis or badminton.

If I shot a legitimate 117, I'd sell everything I had and never pick it up again.

High Point has never really been in great shape but it's an interesting layout at a very reasonable price.

The Boones Trace HOA and an individual partnered for ownership at The Bull a couple of years ago and have put significant money back into the club (rebuilding bunkers, new cart paths, significant clubhouse improvements, etc). One of the more fun rounds in Central Ky.

That's pretty much what I shot last time I went out before breaking a 100 yesterday. Everyone has bad days. It's golf she can be good one day and brutal the next.

Always enjoyed high pointe and it is under new ownership and they are lengthening it to 6500. Fun, short course and the greens are always good for a lower end course.

High Point is awful. Probably a hair better than Sportland used to be in Winchester. Numerous other options instead of that goat ranch.

But it's cheap and easy to get on and less than 15 minutes from my house. Can't always play the Four Seasons Wailea everyday. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::scream:

Suspended by his home club for that video.

Continued my streak of 80 or better rounds yesterday to six. What a perfect day. Would have shot 78 with a par/par finish. Got short sided on a green side bunker on 17 and got behind a tree canopy on 18.

The rain last week really greened things up at my course, in addition to choking out some of the dandelions that had sprung up.
