I am going to custom my Cameron. I won it at a scramble and I putt better with it than anything I've had in the past. But, it isn't the prettiest putter.

My favorite putter I've ever owned was a Teardrop. Loved that thing until it betrayed me. Now it's at the bottom of Penn Run's 18th hole pond.

Years ago.....
Still have a Teardrop zebra mallet. I'll use it every once in a while.

Speaking of ponds does anyone know anyone who has thrown their whole bag in a pond and left?

How about you @cole854

Check out the Putter Lounge. Pretty sick -- have a few buddies that used them, and they came out bad ***.

Of course, you could send it into the Scotty Custom Studio as well and pay the premium.

It's unfortunate he uses red on most of his putters. Mine was custom blue & white when I bought it...but I took horrible care of it and now it looks like it's 20 years old.

Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 815
TM Rocket Ballz 3 wood.
TM Stage 2 hybrid
TM Rocketbladez 4-GW
Vokey 58
Vokey 54
Original hideous looking Futura

I'd like to replace my 3 wood with something a bit newer, and I'm leaning towards getting a new (to me) putter as well. I've always been a mallet guy, so I'm leaning toward the Spider that Jason Day uses, although in a perfect world I'd just drop the coin on the new Futura.

I haven't seen/heard of a Ray Cook mallet in 20 years...but those were the hot **** once upon a time. Classic putter.

I don't think I've ever loved a club/putter as much as I did Odyssey when they first came out way back when...damn, I WORSHIPPED those things.

Maybe the Big Bertha line. Those changed the game forever.

I recently switched from a TM Stage 2 with a Harrison extry stiff shaft to the Callaway Alpha 815 with an aldila rogue stiff shaft, and it is way, way easier to hit. I think it may be a bit longer too. I'm not sure if it's the head or the shaft change, but I suspect its a bit of both.

I'm sure I'll hit it like dogshit this weekend, but I've played one round with it, my first round of the year, and I hit my driver straighter and a bit longer than I have in months. Hope it keeps up, but that's not usually how these things work.

Taylormade's spider line of putters are really nice. I have the itsy bitsy spider in the garage and will use it occasionally. Sweet spot is huge; compared to the Cameron's nickel sized sweet spot.

First lesson of the year today at 4:30. Plan is to take 5-6 and get some of the basics restraightened out. Then ask him to teach me some of the mechanics of the short game (no formal training there, it has been all based on feel my whole life).

I believe I should be able to shoot in the low 80's and break 80 every once in a while. I just don't get out and play enough. Hoping to change that this year since I have a membership at Lake Forest.

If I could just get straightened out on the tee then I know I could get a nice score.

I may change to Bridgestone E-6 but for now im using a PROV1 with a blue A on it. Seem to always find them when im fishing for balls in creeks, ponds, lakes, high grass areas and woods at courses. Probably will be good until next year.

My GHIN has crept up to a 6.5 over the last year. Two years ago it was 2.3 and that's the lowest it's been. Tee to green I'm fine. Putting is where I pick up too many strokes. Lately I'm as apt to make a 10 footer as I am a 4 footer. I still have fun though.
Lowest I got was a 7, but back up to a 9 because my chipping and pitching is beyond pitiful right now. Spent too much time working on my Driver and lost a lot of touch and feel around the greens. Anything within 100 yards is a struggle. Surprisingly, my putter is money right now and the only thing saving me. Got a lesson today with my pro to work on the wedges.

In the bag:
Callaway XR
Titleist 915F 5 Wood
Callaway XR 3 Hybrid
Mizuno 4-P (MP-54's)
Titleist Vokey 52-56-60
Odyssey Versa #1 Tank Putter

Never cared for Callaway but they have really come back strong lately. I tested all of the brands thinking I would come out with either a Ping or Titleist , but for whatever reason I liked the look and hit the XR's better than anything else. Do not carry a 3 wood because I hit the 5 wood a mile and much more accurately (easily the best wood I have ever used). Won the putter in a closest to pin contest and ended up liking it. Will eventually join the Scotty club but made a goal that I will get one when I finally get to an official 6 HC.

My buddy lost his ball on #2 at Peninsula but found another ball in the high stuff while we were looking and started playing with it. Had Kings written on the side of it (whatever that stood for), made a hole in one with that ball 5 holes later on #7. Bought him a hole in one golf trophy that holds that ball to this day.

I always wanted to buy this and keep it ready for when my day comes.

Man...the M1 is sweet. Noticeably longer than my old one (obviously), but the ball just flies off the face.

In a way, I'm glad I waited to get a new driver. I'm guessing this is leaps and bounds ahead of even two or three year old technology. Drivers change so rapidly these days.

This one is a keeper.

Had the MP14s, 29, and 33s (back in the day)...before I finally admitted I wasn't playing/practicing enough (or good enough) to play blades anymore. Still miss them in the 8-P, but not overall.

Classic clubs, but maybe that 6.5 will creep back down with a little more forgiveness, ymmott? I was stubborn for a long time, but it helped me once I got over it...the new forged players irons still give you a similar thin look up top (and feel). Hell, most pros aren't even playing true blades anymore.

First lesson in the books, another one in about ten days. It is so weird how unnatural the corrections feel. I was setting up with the ball too forward in my stance. Getting adjusted to the right spot made me feel like I was backing it up 12" when it was just a minor fix. Going to have to fit a lot of range time in.

Demo day at the course tomorrow. All the brands and free beer.

I had my ball so forward and my hands nearly even with the ball late last summer when I got lesson, after corrected, it felt like I was setting up for a hooded/punch/hook on all my mid-short iron full shots...

...but the results were crazy.

Amazing what bad habits you can fall into without even really noticing. I know exactly where the hands/ball are supposed to be...you learn that at an early age -- but your eyes get so used to what you "think" you're doing you really have no clue sometimes how far off you are until someone shows you. #lessons

Not unlike slowly getting fat and then suddenly seeing yourself in a new picture for the first time in 6 months. :weary:

Yeah, I know they're harder to hit well, that's the reason I sought them out. It's more of a challenge. I'm coming off an injury that screwed my swing up.

I'll probably be playing the same clubs you are in a couple of years. I like the way they look and they get great reviews. I've got a set of MX 20's I bought new about 10 years ago. Got them from Tony. I play those in the winter.

I'll be getting a driver that's easier to hit as well. That thing is more challenging than the irons.

Been playing decent golf for a long time and have never had a hole in one. Never seen anybody else get a hole in one, mostly because I play with a bunch of hacks, but still don't even know anybody that has had one.

In my bag:
Callaway Hyper-X 9 degree
Callaway Big Bertha Steel head 3 and 5 wood.
Mizuno MP-53's 4-PW
Cleveland Tour Action Bronze 52, 56, 60
Odyssey White hot #3 Putter
Pro V-1's

A couple of cuban cigars are ready to join them next chance I get.

Titleist 909H Hybrid 17 degree
Ping S57's 3-PW

TaylorMade Rossa Daytona by Kiama

Never getting rid of my putter, absolutely love that club and it's a model I rarely ever see anyone playing.

Where did he tell you to place the ball in your stance for irons? Friend of mine keeps telling me the ball is too far forward in my stance, and like bbdk, I don't see it that way . . . but I am hitting the ball like ****, that much I clearly see. :weary:

I play 8-PW closer to my back foot. 4-7 towards the middle. Longer stuff closer to front foot. Depends a lot on turf and the type of shot I want to hit, too. It's fluid.

I wouldn't call that excessive. I try to play 3 rounds a week. That's 12 rounds a month. So 17 rounds in about a month and a half is just right.

Wish I could have played 17 rounds in the last month and a half. Got 4 rounds in and it shows. Most the guys I know who are really good golfers play at least 2-3 times per week all year long. 150 rounds per year is going to keep your skills pretty sharp (especially short game). As my pro tells me when I complain about not having enough time to play more he always says you can make the time to do it, its just not a priority to you. More or less, if you want to be a really good golfer playing and "good" practicing has to be a priority. Very few have the natural talent to never play and go out and shoot a low 70 score on command. If you have that ability to do it, God Bless you.

If your normal miss for a club is to hit it fat, move the ball up. If you hit it thin, move it back.

17 rounds, lol. That's living, good for you.

My goal is 1 per week from April through August, which I still struggle to do on average. Sticks go in the trunk opening UK FB weekend, not to be seen again until The Masters, typically.

Many more thin misses than fat, especially with short irons, thus my friend is probably right, got the ball too far forward in stance.

BBdK, are you at Woodhaven by any chance? If so, is that Deere dude still the top dog? I used to play out there sun up to sun down in HS during the summer and that guy practically lived there iirc. Place forces you to become a good ball striker because those greens are tiny. Fun little track but super easy. Although, that tree lined tee shot on 18 still haunts me.

Played Woodhaven about 30 years ago when golf was something I did while I drank beer. I don't remember the course at all.
