Yes. Joined in the fall. Have really enjoyed. Very active golf community. I do wish they had a pool for the family.

Quail Hollow is ridiculous. Great course but when you set up a course that only yields one birdie on the weekend you might want to reconsider the setup.

78 made the cut, so the played the 18th hole a combined 156 times and only 1 birdie!

Overall scores are ok but damn the 18th is crazy.

QH is considered one of the best stops on the regular part of the tour....PGA there next year and Prez Cup in 2021.

You keep shooting all of these 70's w/ your new playing partners, they are going to think a ringer joined the club.

Don't disagree and said as much but the 18th hole was too difficult. It was played 158 times on the weekend and only one birdie. The hole location on Saturday wouldn't even accept a great shot. Hit it close and location and speed was such that ball was going to roll back off front of green or roll way to the right.

Great shots should be rewarded. It was too penal.

It wasn't the whole course as winning score were good but when PGA Tour players go 1 for 158 on a single hole something is amiss.

Buckethead made me think of a good question.

Who has had a hole in one?

Who was witnessed a hole in one.

I've not had one, closest I got was last year on #11 at Tot Hill Farm last year. Stopped about 6 inches from the cup. Only good shot in a miserable round.

Hit one on 2 at Meadowbrook if hole in ones even count on a par 3 where you hit off driving range mats. [laughing]

77 today at The Bull, or Boone's Trace National, or whatever the %&^$ they are calling it now. Course is in better shape than any other course I have played so far this year. Really great condition. $24 at 3PM on a weekend? That didn't seem right.

We played Thursday for $18 at 11:30. But $24 for a weekend is a steal.

That rule makes no sense. People who are honest about handicaps will be honest either way. People who are going to cheat, either hi or lo, will cheat regardless.

What is the percentage of golfers who have an official GHIN index?

Good points...which is why I asked. Are people fudging their scores in every day casual conversation when their GHIN says something else? Which is true?...lol.

Do people really go out and play 18 holes by themselves? I play a ton of golf but think that sounds miserable.

I rarely play 18 by myself but have done it before. But I will run and play a quick 9 fairly regularly. Especially in the summer when I can hit the dusk rates and get 9 in really easy.

GHIN Handicaps are a joke in general. Only thing that offers any checks and balances are tournament scores. It's hard to beat an 18 who drops an 82 on you.

So your GHIN scores are invalid per the new USGA rule.
I consulted with my pro...he said as long as you're honest, it doesn't matter.

In other words, honest people are going to post true scores, and dishonest people will post what they want, regardless of whether they play alone or with people.

In other words, it is a stupid rule.

Played Quail Hollow a few times. Completely ate my lunch. Those greens were just ridiculous. That said, its an incredible course.

I play alone 25% of the time because it allows me to take my time and I like to setup shop at certain holes and work on short game. I just let folks through, but most times I pick days I know the course is slow.

Game has been a mess this year. Ball striking has been poor and short game is a joke. Have been able to still shoot in the mid 80's with a few low 80's, but I really want to get into the 5-6 HC range and my game is nowhere close to it right now.

So, spent two hours on the course yesterday with my pro. He is a good friend so he is pretty liberal with his time with me even though its a busy time for him. Anyway, we worked on several aspects of my game and it was shocking some of the bad habits that creeped back into my game. We worked on 3 things I was not doing correctly and it completely transformed my game again. I am at the stage where I can quickly fix issues whereas I used to have to work a long time to develop a new skill. Its pretty cool when you can immediately pick something back up which just reaffirms that the mechanics are there. Point being, its very important to have a pro work with you instead of trying to fix issues on your own. Even the best players need lessons. Instead of going and buying that $500 driver that is not going to do anything for you, invest that money into lessons. Range work is great if you really need to work on the swing, but I have found on the course lessons are gold.

I don't disagree about the rule being stupid, but so is stroke and distance for OB. That said...we can't pick and choose which rules to abide by if we are claiming a legit handicap.

Are the scores and cap you list here matching your GHIN? If so, then that isn't a problem.

All in all, most don't like the new rule but it is what it is.

I play by myself a time or two a month while traveling, but I no longer post those scores. It's a really dumb rule, but I follow it.

That's kind of BS. Either you follow the rules or you don't. Are people that continue to use the belly putter okay? Why is that different?

There's a reason the rule was put in place - it's a lot easier to post crap scores while playing alone than with a group.

How's that true when you are the only one posting the score? It's not a group project.

my handicap is at 8.5 right now (a 78 just went off the card with the last revision) and is trending to a 7.8. Not sure what you mean by my scores matching my GHIN.

Don't mean anything....just asking about how people were recording scores w/ the new rule in place. And you said you were a 7 just over a week ago so j/w about the issue.

Personally, getting mine going this weekend w/ my last 5 scores that cawood and my dad have witnessed, so I will post that next week just to keep the honesty going.

Are you actually me? My game sucks the big one right now as well. [Edit: I meant to add your scores are also very close to mine - used to shoot high 70s occasionally, and almost always low 80s, but right now, breaking 85 is a cause for celebration] But I also really enjoy a quiet 9 by myself, often play two or three shots, chip from several areas, think it is great, great practice, and very relaxing. Also, I will mix up the tees, play one tee shot from the tips, and another from the white tees, just to get two different looks on the same hole. I do not turn in a score if I am just practicing as described, but if I am playing one ball, and counting all shots, well hell yes I am turning it in. If you don't trust me, then don't play me for money. I may be a lot of things, but golf cheat is not one of them.

I don't play by myself very often and like he said, it's more of a practice opportunity than a pure round of golf. I've seen guys come in and post scores from courses they've never played before if they were high enough. I've seen guys post scores from courses I'm pretty sure they didn't play. Seen guys go out and shoot in the 70's and head to the car, but when that same guy shoots an 85 he'll knock you over to get to the machine.

If wildcatadam's pro didn't think he was an honest guy he would probably have told him to follow the rule.

Unless you become my A player in a scramble, I don't care about your vanity handicap, it's going to cost you money.

Played Mineral Mound for the first time. I really liked that course but it is relatively isolated. If you are around Eddyville and LBL it' s worth playing. Don't expect Pinehurst but it is a pretty setting; especially the back 9.

That golf article sounded like a butt hurt little crybaby. "I am not as good as the elite guys, but I should be treated as one." "I do not have the personality nor the desire to supplement my income by doing promotions." But give him a mic after he wins, and he will chirp about guys on tour he is jealous of ??? GTFO here with that noise. Sounds like a Ian Poulter type, has to be a Euro guy.

So because you are middle of the pack golfer and do not get to enjoy the benefits that come with fame, you want to **** on the guys (good guys or not) because they get special attention ??? Just a sad little guy, bet he even has a problem with the guys who went on vacation and filmed it all, probably hates all the extra stuff at the Masters to. "Uh, yeah, we do not want you in the Par 3 Tourney, you are a *** and dry as flaked paint, sorry, let the colorful characters do it, you sit this one out Ace." His comment "Mr. Green Jacket guy" was really telling. Ok, so you have not won a jacket, so you talk **** about your playing partner that has ? May even be a Shooter McGavin type prick.

Since it's Players week, whatever happened to Jodie Mudd? I had just started playing around 89/90 when he was one of the best in the game. Seems like after 1990 he just kind of disappeared. We got some folks from the Ville on here. Someone has to know what he is up to these days.
