These guys are tearing up Ponta Vedra today.

Feherty - "It looks like a ferret crawling out of each nostril." Not sure who the golfer was but that made me laugh. Talking about his fu manchu hybrid stache.

Played Mineral Mound for the first time. I really liked that course but it is relatively isolated. If you are around Eddyville and LBL it' s worth playing. Don't expect Pinehurst but it is a pretty setting; especially the back 9.
I have a brother that lives in Eddyville. May have to play around the next time I visit him.

Andres Gonzalez but it looked worse than this today.

Anyone ever played at Paiute Wolf course or Painted Desert in Vegas before? Playing out there next Friday and Saturday as part of a bachelor party.

Sort of surprised how many guys shot low yesterday. Day with a 63 is pretty incredible and yet several guys just right behind him.

You will love the Wolf course. You may want to check and see when they punched their greens and how they are now.

Scott with a nasty quad on hole 18. Even the pros get the bad breaks as well. Ball seemed to never get off the cart path.

I guess I should have stopped after 36.

I played with people today, UKO, so my scores are properly entered into the GHIN system for handicap purposes.

Well if you're OCD the 200 total had to be nice.

Looks like Sawgrass showed its teeth a little today. Much lower scores.

More players shot 80 or above than shot below par.

Thought it was funny seeing pros three putt all day long yesterday. So the course was too easy and then all of the sudden they are complaining it was too hard. Greens definitely have that US Open look to them right now. At least for me, I enjoy watching pros being really challenged than a bunch of high scoring.

I like seeing them have to grind too but they went to far yesterday. Crazy greens. Stimp was at 14 in the morning and got faster.

Yeah reviews for Wolf are great. No mention of any punching from the recent reviews so hopefully we won't have to deal with that.

Should be a good trip. I'm a decent golfer, but 4 of the guys played at Virginia Tech so I'll be one of the worst guys on the trip.

I don't disagree about the rule being stupid, but so is stroke and distance for OB. That said...we can't pick and choose which rules to abide by if we are claiming a legit handicap.

Are the scores and cap you list here matching your GHIN? If so, then that isn't a problem.

All in all, most don't like the new rule but it is what it is.

[eyeroll] Cute from someone without a GHIN now, or who as ever had one (at least in the past decade)

I'm all for anyone posting as many low scores as they want. People posting LOWER scores isn't the problem, which anyone who plays golf regularly or at a country club would know.

Not many people play 18 holes by themselves very often, so the new 'rule' doesn't effect anything unless there is some d-bag out there that wants to "lower his handicap" so he can brag to his friends. Again, that's fine by me -- first time he goes out and plays in an actual game or event, he'll be digging into his wallet & all his buddies will LOVE the new/extra strokes they are getting -- trust me.

If you truly want to lower your handicap just so you can lie/brag about it, just log on the ghin website and 'make up' rounds from courses all over. Pretty easy, will take you about 30 seconds. Then Call me when your next index posts and we'll have a big money game.

Tiger dumps 3 straight balls in water from 102. While they were not flat out chunks like Jordan's 3rd shot at the Masters and almost cleared the water, its pretty damn discouraging to see that.

He had a little quicken loans presser today and had a couple military guys hit balls to a green over water 102 out for charity. Tiger was third to go and splashed all 3. Didn't lay sod over them but still an awful sign to hit 3 in the drink. His mind is touched.

Just watched the clip...lol. He really needs to take off a few more months and then quit. Or just start back w/ the hookers, roids and blow and then just play.

I hope they catch them and drag them by the balls over all 18 holes.

Shot a decent 81 at Cherry Blossom today. Finished the last 2 tough holes double bogey, bogey. A couple of mental mistakes cost me. That is so aggravating.

Playing Chariot Run this Saturday. Is it a good course? I've never played there before.

Did you try to fade that tee shot on 17 and ended up in the woods? I always play straight at the fence, then 7 iron, 8 iron, 2 putt. YW. LOL

No, I tugged my tee shot a little left, about 5 yards to the left of the cart path. Had to hit a low shot under that big tree and I hit the lowest branch and it bounced right. Still had the tree blocking me just enough to have to hit another low punch. Had a wedge in from the left rough and pulled it into the bunker. Out of the bunker and 2 putt for a 7. I have no doubts that those last 2 holes have cost many leads to be lost in competition, and have ruined many scores.

It's a good track, greens are usually very fast. Haven't played there this year yet, but I'll get around to it.

Chariot Run was fantastic, and I would definitely recommend giving it a try. The weather was garbage, but the course was in excellent condition. The greens were a perfect speed due to the rain slowing them down from a 13.5 to a 10. Shot a 74 and won a little money. I plan on making it back over there in the summer when the weather is nice and it's not cart path only. The course is a bit out of the way though. $49 for the round was a great deal from Golf Now, considering it's usually $70 on Saturdays.

78/77 this weekend.

78, hit 7 greens & made 3 birdies...and had a few awful holes/shots
77, hit 13 greens & made zero birdies. Hit the ball great, just couldn't make putts. Boring *** 13 pars and 5 bogeys.

If the first 45 days is any indication, I'm going to shoot 77-82 every single round all summer long. [eyeroll]

Need some lessons, and a new driver. Swear mine is 'dead' or something -- am longer this year with just about every club...but seemingly 15-20 yards shorter off the tee.

Imgur Album of a few of the holes out in Palm Springs

Played 36 out in Palm Springs while on a conference. 18 at the La Quinta Resort Mountain Course and 18 at the TPC Stadium course.

Smooth 98-95. I didn't care though. It was fun. Some hard *** holes that just punish errant tee shots. Took my clubs with me on the plane.

While on the driving range at the stadium course, the head on my 7 iron went flying. I will get it reshafted but probably can use it as a good excuse to get new irons. Probably a 22 handicap right now because I haven't played in a long time but I think I can (and have) gotten down to an 11-12.

Any recs on irons? I probably need the least game improvement iron that is out there while still being a game improvement iron

I really feel bad for you. LOL.

My goal is the same every summer. Just get into the 80s.

84/88 in Vegas. Hit the ball poorly, but conditions were pretty brutal with the wind. Balls moving while standing over putts, 3 club winds, etc.

One guy on the trip just qualified for the Canadian PGA Tour. Shot a 72 from the tournament tees on a course he hadn't seen before in awful wind and didn't even play well. Makes you really appreciate what legit pros are capable of.

^ yep.

And the difference between the mini-tour guys that fire 4 straight rounds in the mid 60s on legit tracks and the PGA guys is nearly as wide. Even the 'scrubs' on the PGA tour are on another level.

Just hard to believe people are so good at golf, and that are are so many levels of 'great', imo.
