Right, but it literally happens on hole 10. Never #s 7, 8, 11, 12, etc.

It's between the ears.

Well, switch up your strategy on hole 10. Maybe hit 3 wood and then an easy club to the green and pay no attention to the flag.

Do whatever it takes to get on in regulation, 2 putt for Par and then mentally act as if you just birdied to start the turn.

Anybody buying what Peter Jacobson is selling about the Srixon ball? That unless you are under a 10 handicap the Pro-v's of the world will give you more side spin and therefore take you into trouble.

Srixon engineered to keep you in play. Interesting.

Screw growing the game. It took me 6 hours to play 36 holes today. (98 and 95)

I suck but at least I play fast and let people play through. I burned a spliff and drank 2 beers waiting to play a Par 5 today because some hayseed spent 20 GD minutes looking for his effing 1 dollar MOJO.

1000 times this. The less waterheads out there slowing everybody down the better.

New group playing today had to be told not to drive the cart up next to the green. Shouldn't take a genius to figure that out but evidently it does.

How many people were you playing with to play two 3 hour rounds? Playing with 3 others, that's amazing if not impossible; 2 others, fast; 1 other, decent I guess; alone, average at best.

I was playing by myself. My point was the course was overrun with idiots and I was complaining that it TOOK 6 hours to play 36.

Bought a doz. on the recommendation of a guy my age @ Dicks... Was just walking through and checking stuff out... $26
Had a new driver in the bag (PingG30) and hadn't like the way balls were feeling off it and was thinking low compression maybe?
I liked them fine and still het it well enough to sign my name to "long drive" cards at scrambles... So give then a try I say.
ProV's do spin ... not that that helps most of us but they're +$20 over a box of Srixon's... I do like the NXT Tour's

So I guess DJ getting that major monkey off his back was a good thing.
Good luck to DJ... For some reason I don't see his wife being an asset to his career ... His success on the course will depend on his success off........

Dustin Johnson out of Rio....that makes 3 of the top 4 (Spieth to decide this week) and 9 of the top 30. This is now nothing more than a regional club pro tournament. #growthegame

With the way Speith is talking I'll be surprised if he goes either. Fowler is committed to playing yet either.

39/41 today. Tightened the variance up a bit between 9s, but chopped it around. Hit few fairways, and probably even fewer greens. Felt like I shot 86.

Anyone else playing today?

Olympic golf just sounds like a terrible idea. Nobody wants to play that tournament. Total waste.

I think they really missed the opportunity to make it a true amateur event. As huge at the US Am is to the sport, the mainstream publicity and recognition is pretty mild at best. Having many of those same guys chasing Olympic gold -- that would have really showcased the sport.

Novice/stupid question here: why do I hit my 5 wood farther than my three? What can I do setup etc. differently to get that stupid 3W out there. Just feels like I get a better punch with the 5

Beginners & High Cappers generally hit higher lofted clubs better/further., the easier to get airborne, the better -- which is why almost any teaching pro will tell his beginner students to leave the driver in the bag for awhile

..as you improve and learn to hit down and through the ball that won't be the case.

My driver has totally left me. Picked up a Taylormade Mini Driver just to try to get something going. It was $90 used

I know I need to practice my short game . . . but does anyone else find putting practice to be tedious as hell? I can spend 30 to 40 minutes on the chipping area, it is easy to vary things up and make it interesting, but doing the necessary drills to sharpen the putter is just about to put me to sleep. Suggestions?

Shot 93 today. 86 strokes going into 18 and **** the bed.

Also, the mini driver cracked on the face somehow during the round. Took it back to Golf Headquarters and they gave me store credit. Wound up picking up a used TaylorMade AeroBurner mini driver.

The Women's US Open is about to be more anarchy than the men's. In a 3 hole playoff right now and Anna Nordquist made a grain of sand move in a trap is about to get a 2 stroke penalty that she doesn't know about yet. She grounded her club in a trap. It's going to end by the rules officials assessing a 2 stroke penalty.

Spit up all over myself during the easy stretch from 3-8 at the Bull. Awful.

Fired a 76 at Boone's Trace today. +4 thru 5 and finished last 13 even par. That course really suits me, but for some reason even when I score good out there, I'm usually +2 after 2. I bogey the first hole, which I don't think is hard, 80% of time.

Yeah she did. If it was Thursday afternoon they would have never caughtit.

When I saw her hit that shot, I thought she was awfully close to the sand at address.

With that said, the USGA screwed it up again. Telling her after she hit her 3rd shot, and telling Lang before she hit her 3rd. They should have been told at the exact same time.
Another awful decision by the USGA. Could have made a difference in how each played their shots.

The USGA makes a lot of head scratching decisions but I thought they handled yesterday just about as well as they could've. It wasn't perfect but perfect wasn't attainable in a situation where there was a pretty clear, unreported violation during a 3-hole playoff in a major.

Just glad "Bethany" Lang won. The USGA should never let that woman be within 500 yards of a microphone again.

It's not a hard hole but I'm with you. It always has my number. I usually double it

Played Picadome last week for the first time in a couple of years. I had forgotten how small those greens are. The course was in pretty good shape. Noticed they have Foot/Soccer golf on the front 9.

So you are now for amateurs from 3rd world countries growing the game? Just want to see which position you are taking "this week".
No, you made me change my opinion. I am now on your side of the argument. #growthegame

I always found a good drill that seemed to help was put like 6 balls in a circle all the way around the cup, about equal distance (u can do 3 footers, 6, 10, whatever) and keep going until you make all of them. Should help your stroke if you do it enough

I respect Rory's honesty, but not his opinion. He came off rather cunty, IMO.

“I didn’t get into golf to try to grow the game. I got into golf to win championships and win majors. All of a sudden you get to this point and there is a responsibility on you to grow the game and I get that. But at the same time that’s not the reason I got into golf. I got into golf to win. I didn’t get into golf to get other people into the game."

Agree. Appreciated the honesty but he came off like a douche bag.

The Addidas USA Golf apparel is at Dick's. It was mentioned earlier this year. Some good looking stuff, some awful of course.
