Gonna start this thread since I've seen so much conversation about the game. Both teams made it to this point at 7-0, though at points tonight I wasn't so sure Barrington was going to make it.

Let's look at the tale of the tape:
Palatine:
Record: 7-0
Average Score: 38-14.
Hasn't really been challenged since week 1 at Stevenson. Fremd game was a 7 point victory, but was comfortable 21-7 lead until Fremd scored with 1:37 left in the fourth quarter.

Barrington:
Record: 7-0
Average score: 41-18
Had a hell of a time with Hoffman Estates tonight, pulling out 45-41 victory. Hoff Estates had the ball with under 4 minutes left and was driving when QB(who'd had a great 4th quarter to that point) threw a pick and Barrington was able to run out the clock.

Common opponents:

Barrington 41, Glenbrook South 15
Palatine 34, Glenbrook South 13.
Barrington had 41-0 lead at end of third quarter before scrubs gave up a couple of TDs; Palatine had a 34-7 lead at end of third quarter before scrubs gave up a late TD

Barrington 27, Fremd 12
Palatine 21, Fremd 14
Barrington trailed 6-0 at halftime, led 14-12 at end of third quarter and then got an offensive TD to pull away and a 102 yard pick six return on the last play of the game for margin of victory. Palatine trailed Fremd 7-0 early in second quarter, before pulling ahead 14-7 at the half. Led 21-7 at the end of 3rd quarter

Palatine 49, Hoffman Estates 13
Barrington 45, Hoffman Estates 41
Palatine led 21-10 at half and exploded for 21 points in third quarter + TD on first play of 4th quarter for a 49-10 lead with 11:51 left in game. Barrington led 24-14 at the half; teams traded TDs until Hoffman Estates took a 41-38 lead with 5:50 to play. Barrington came right back and scored to make it 45-41 with 4:33 and then the aforementioned pick occured.

Transitive property of common opponents: Palatine 41, New Trier 21 -> New Trier 27, Maine South 21 -> Barrington 41, Maine South 27

Signature wins:
Palatine 28, Stevenson 20. Stevenson has won every game since and looks like a formidable team in 8A
Barrington 41, Maine South 27. This looked more impressive at the time, but Maine South now has three losses after New Trier tonight

History:
Palatine just seems to have Barrington's number. Over the last 10 years Palatine has won 8 out of 10, with their only losses coming in sub-.500 seasons. In essence, if Palatine is good or both teams are good, Palatine has won:

Have at it......

This is going to be an awesome game! I'm hoping for a live thread to keep us updated and with color commentary!?!

I forcasting a total sugar rush of scoring. Over/under 65 points?

I like Palatine in this one. palatines QB is just a flat out winner and if needed can put the team on his back and "Will" his team to a win.

Yummy! This is definately a top 5 game of the week!!

Are you ready? I certainly am! see the above!!

I know the party poopers out there say this is normally a lower scoring game... but I don't think so!

Getting ready for a sugar high of high octane offenses.

If the over/under was 55 points. Would you take the over or the under!! Who is your pick to win it?

Mine is Palatine 35 Barrington 31!! I am taking the over!

I wish I could see this one live... but I will settle for watching the replay over the weekend on Comcast if it's the game of the week?

It's going to be on The Cube with Barrington-centric announcers:

And I too think it'll be a high scoring affair, something like 42-35

OMG... How much cotton candy has that little girl had? Cut her off right now! I think Palatine prevails and locks up a #4 seed in 8a. If Barrington wins they could be as high as a #3, no worse than #4.

Get there early... Should be a very well attended game.

Hearing about solid Palatine football alum attendance from 2005 and after when Coach Donnelly started bringing the program back, and great community support. Even my wife wants (and plans) to go - this is a pretty damn special game.

Can't imagine that Barrington (!) would be a good place for a pork chop sammich, but I am ignorant on the subject. Has been a great place to watch Palatine football!

Dont sell their pork chop sandwiches short, almost worth the trip to Barrington by themselves

Reportedly my wife snagged the last 2 and it was still the 1st quarter. Hard to believe they didn't have more, but supposedly they had just cooked their last 6. Definitely a great sammich for a h.s. football game!
And still a great place to watch Palatine football!

I haven't seen much h.s. football the last couple years and SO little ever compared to many of you, so I'll let the experts give their opinions on the team.

But Oles and Turner are damn good, O'Shea makes more "highlight film" type catches every week than any h.s. player I've ever seen (Grochowski and others have their share too), and even though the defense was soft against the pass, they did what they had to do to limit Barrington's run game (plus the two 4th and 1 stops were HUGE). Looking forward to the playoffs!

Totally agree Daryl-

They're 8-0 currently and have:
--Beaten Stevenson, handing them what looks like will be their only regular season loss. Stevenson looks to finish 8-1 and win the North Suburban
--Beaten New Trier, who looks to finish 7-2 and win the Central Suburban South
--Beaten 7-0 Barrington, for the third season in a row knocking them from the ranks of the unbeaten and they will likely end up 8-1
--Beaten what's turned out to be a very good Hoffman Estates team, who will be at least 6-3 and possibly 7-2
--Beaten cross-town rival Fremd; which is always a war
--Won the other games they were supposed to win comfortably, not suffering a let down, trap, etc.; and getting their second stringers a lot of valuable playing time in those games

That Barrington team was very good. Go watch the Hudl highlights on Moews, Niro and Babicz. You'll see lots of big plays and easy TDs. Palatine's defense did give up 29 points(21 when it really mattered) but, as they usually do, took away the other team's big play ability and made them work hard for any points they got. Everyone will write and talk about the offense tonight, but I think if they're gonna get down to Champaign, it's gonna be the defense that carries them there.

There was a thread before the season titled "So it's Palatine", asking whose supporters think their team is all that this year( and implying it was Palatine's) and I argued "why not Palatine". I think after 8 weeks of performance I feel even better about them
