not sure if this is true but hearing that Zach oles, palatines star qb, broke his collarbone. Not sure if this is true or not. If it is, that would just add to the craziness which has been 8a this year. Unfortunately my Stevenson patriots were part of this craziness and ended their season a lot earlier then they hoped.

It's true, unfortunately. Poor kid. They should be fine. Lots of weapons.

Such a shame--he is a huge talent. However, from what I saw today, Palatine still has enough talent to win 8A. Best of luck the rest of the way.

Yeah, both Oles and our starting RB, who was closing in on 1000 yds for the year.

Dang that sucks. Sorry to hear that. What happened to the RB?
Not sure but thinking concussion. Never came back after a big hit. QB was hurting ,actually heard him in pain. Sorry to see and hear it because this team at full strength was a definite threat to win 8A. Back up QB (10) played very well in relief. 7 as an option QB was really good. I can't imagine Oles coming back I hope 25 does.

So Palatine still scored 34 on ND and ND did nothing offensively? This ND alum is at a loss of words.

ND's offense managed 11 passing yards and 86 yards of offense while throwing 4 interceptions and punting 9 times. If Oles is not hurt, this game would have been a running clock in the 3rd quarter.

In all my years doing this, the coach of Palatine is one of the nicest guys I've worked. Best of luck to them, and a shame about these two players being injured.

Palatine history hopefully repeating itself...the only time in Palatine's history they got to a state championship game was in 1994 (they lost to Providence Catholic 16-6 but that's not the point).

They had an all-state QB that year too, and he got injured in the first round too. That year they brought up the sophomore QB and he led them to 2nd in state.

This year we have a very good junior backup who was very successful on the lower levels and the heir apparent to Zach Oles; just we didn't originally expect his tenure to start until next August.

I feel better after watching this week's highlight video. The very first pass featured was Oles to O'Shea for a TD, but the rest is all Angelaccio...he did a very good job!

(It also shows Basa didn't hold on Courtland's wildcat 80 yard TD run and that Grochowski caught the TD pass they ruled incomplete, so it could have been 45-0..but I digress...)

Bring on Lyons!

He will be back stronger than ever.

Unfortunately just not before 11/26 :(

I hope he's recovered in time for part of the basketball season. I know this group of seniors was 27-2 as sophomores even with Elter playing on the varsity that year...so it should be a big basketball year at Palatine too.
