Right and all of those teams are hovering around the same record as we are. Except for Nebraska. Living by the 3 only means you have to shoot well every game. Living by playing great D does not rely on the ball going through the net. Of course I agree with what you’re saying but we have won with great Defense. We also have had some games where we shot the 3 ball well. We don’t always win when wr shoot well but we typically win when we defend well.

Milo check out the box scores of Iowa’s BIG games. Holy crap they’re shooting sways from 12% in some games to over 50%. That explains their record. They also don’t defend the 3 well at least in some games. MSU just shot 75% against them but Iowa managed to win. They do have the ability to score from anywhere which helps. They have at least 3 guys I’m thinking of that have done a great job getting to the rim and finishing.
I honestly can’t explain how they lost as many games as they have other than Wisconsin beat them twice. Wisconsin plays slow which probably frustrates a team like Iowa. Iowa also shot the 3 poorly both times.

Iowa is an outlier. They look like they spend 90% of their practice time on offense and then do like 1-2 defensive drills. Fun to watch when they're making shots.
My point was we should shoot more 3's next year. Griffiths instead of Caleb should make a big difference in that change alone, Cam should shoot more of them, Paul should shoot more of them too and that opens up the floor for Spencer, Cliff and everyone else.
We are 322nd in 3PA/game, you have to have elite defense to shoot that few 3's and be good.

Haha probably true about Iowa but they can score from anywhere it seems. Very fun to watch but 11-8 like everyone else.
I happen to agree with you about next year with Caleb gone and Mag maybe taking a while to get back. Pike is a great defensive coach but I suspect we will need to score more. If Cliff comes back we will still be solid on D but I’m more than Happy to see us score more than 65 ppg and with the guys we expect to have I see more 3’s going up. Then again, what do I know.
