Dererk is almost as efficient a scorer as Zion Williamson. He's brutally underrated nationally.

He’s one of the most uniquely skilled players I’ve ever seen at NU and harder to replace than Law. If he was coming back next year it wouldn’t be a rebuilding year.

I keep telling myself we don't make the Tourney his sophomore if he didn't unexpectedly get the chance for development his freshman year when Olah and Van Zegeren both went down. Otherwise I'd cry myself to sleep every night.

He's going down as one of the all time greats at NU, and he'll have a long pro career if he wants it.

Ya no way he sits after his breakout freshman performances. And wouldn’t want to find out if we make the tourney without his frosh experience. But man if we had him back we’d be in good shape next year.

Always thought that DP was special - in the way that the program never had (at least since my time at NU) the kind of player at the 5 slot (even if considered by many to be undersized) .

If DP keeps working on his shot, he has a chance of being a Draymond type of player.

I initially wrote a post asking what drugs you were smoking, but then thought that was too harsh. I mean, yeah he's underrated, but he's nothing remotely similar to Zion Williamson.

I said he was almost as efficient a scorer as Zion Williamson, which the chart backs up. I do admit to writing the thread title as clickbait.

He's certainly underrated, but the efficiency rating probably favors a player like Pardon.
Yea. I think the most impressive names on that stat list are, in order...
1. Zion- accomplished on high volume against high-level competition while getting lots of D attention
2. De'Andre Hunter- he is even the focal point of UVa's offense, and is not getting much benefit of (a) easy looks inside, or (b) significant bump from 3s, which help eFG
3t. Hauser and Reeves- flattered by about half their shots being 3pt, but still very efficient on 2pt as well, demonstrates good shot selection
4. Grant Williams

I've been impressed by Pardon developing his touch inside though - in earlier years he was an efficient scorer but mostly layups, lots of putbacks. By this year he's really developed a nice soft hook shot and a couple other moves that he puts on the rim softly with spin. He's developed enough to keep scoring efficiently despite more defensive attention. The dunks still help efficiency though!
