I admit that I thought that 10 minutes a game was the ceiling of what he might be able to contribute. Great story.

I was not surprised by Spencer's performance this year as his BB skills were well known in the lacrosse community. I doubt many posters on this board realize the tremendous athletic ability that elite lacrosse players possess but their vision, eye to hand coordination, ambidextrous skills and toughness transfer to many sports

Guess so, doc, and he's Exhibit A. We'll remember his name far longer than most of us (myself included) would've guessed at the beginning of the season.

After reading about his accolades in the early press stuff about him coming to NU, I expected an athletic beast, but I didn’t expect him to be a competitive ball handler or outside shooter. This article would have given me much higher expectations if Id read it over the summer.

When you look at his upper body and arms he doesn't look like a basketball player lol.

Physique definitely in the hockey/lacrosse player mold.

Where would we have been this year if Spencer hadn’t played this year? Kudos for his great performance and leadership this season.

And I have to give CC and the staff credit for finding him and bringing him on. Even for 1 year.

A guy like him is invaluable. It’s obvious he thrives on competition and over the season he has risen to the challenge.

That’s the kind of mentality and toughness winners have. watching the team keep fighting and improving at the end gives me some hope he’s rubbed off a bit.

I believe that but my understanding is that Spencer is one of the greatest LAX players and athletes in the history of the sport? Even then there were plenty of bball guards that were much quicker than him, but he is built more like a strong safety than a guard. Its both a testament to him, to LAX athletes but also to bball athletes, who even among college guards who have no shot at the NBA, the athleticism is remarkable. I personally think the NBA has the greatest athletes collectively of any sport on the planet.

I've heard a compelling argument for hockey players as the best and most well rounded athletes. They need an elite combination of strength, speed, explosiveness, eye-hand coordination, quickness, vision, teamwork and incredible footwork/balance in order to be able to do it all while on skates.
