I wasn't lashing out at you. My point was this my friend. Your views go beyond those of a realist into chronic negativity. The posts in this thread were all upbeat and positive. Posters are glad and excited about Penn State finally doing something to honor the legacy Joe Paterno. And it seems we hired a coach who embraces that legacy. But you have somehow found your way to post another negative thought. Even your take of me lashing out at you seems a bit extreme. So my point was simple. You seem to be in a very dark place my friend and you seem to relish in it.Actually what I dislike is having to correct totally false or partially correct information from intellectually challenged people. I do wonder what lashing out at me says about you?
After Franklin was hired, prior to a couple PCs he acknowledged the foundation built by Joe Paterno. Yes, he actually said "Joe Paterno". Just because James didn't start every PC with a tribute to Joe doesn't mean he was anti-Joe. I doubt he would have had a problem with the new exhibit. It’s a huge step that I never imagined would happen. I wonder if Campbell had anything to do with it? I think Franklin would have been opposed to it.
Indeed as Karen Peetz said it's amazing how quickly all this was forgotten...
Whenever I see the names Peetz, Surma, Frazier, Suhey, Masser, etc., it makes me want to punch my f***ing windshield!!! (O'Brien reference)Simply stated.....too little too late.
They should hang a "John Surma" plaque over the biggest restroom in the stadium.
Of course but that’s not what you said in your post.PSU came within one game of playing for a NC in 2024 with a team that had lost two games before the playoffs. In college football these days, the majority of teams that make the playoffs is going to have multiple losses.
How are things on whatever planet you are living on? Geez. You really think not being born yet would stop an evildoer like Franklin?
Why that's the very reason he kept asking for more money ... so he'd have enough to build a time machine and go back and wrong all the rights.
Can you direct me to your post where you said this then? I would LOVE to read it.I’m on record wanting him fired the day after he was hired from Vandy.
I already knew the guy was a walking talking fraud.
It’s a tad sad that it took you and others so long (10 years) to prove me correct.
Bingo. You and Chumbot should spend less time listening to the voices in your head.
If you have him on ignore why are you responding to his post? Why do you use multiple handles and have conversations with yourself? Is it because nearly everyone has your handles on ignore, so you have no one to talk to?
Or the onYou already responded to the ones I pointed out in this thread—did you forget already?
You’re very transparent, bud. It’s not hard to see that when you’re posting, it’s when your other handles are posting the same exact trash and liking each others post. Then, when you’re offline, they all magically stop lol. You bombard the board with a flurry of dumb@ss comments.
But do you notice how I’m one of the only real people responding to you? It’s because everyone else put you and your handles on ignore.
Couldn’t agree more.So you are just making feces up. You can't name another handle that is allegedly me. You are intellectually incapable of understanding that there could be more than one person who frequents here that is not into groupthink. Look it up! It effectively describes the concurrent seeking that has become the dominant theme of this forum.
To be a card carrying BWICAC member we must pledge the following:
-Franklin is every negative thing we can think of and so replacing him with anyone is an upgrade
-Campbell loves kittens, puppies and babies. He embodies every redeeming quality that Franklin lacked and in addition is a perfect football coach who will win big games and all the little ones too.
-Penn States football future is incredibly bright. Reason #1 Franklin is gone. Reason #2 Campbell is the antithesis of "BGJ." He will not only get us to the big game, but he will win.
- We are not concerned that PSU is ranked 6th or 7th in the Big Ten in recruiting, because we can identify talent like no other coaching staff and we also "coach em up."
-Having 5 other teams in the Big Ten and about 18-20 other programs outspending us for rosters is in no way an impediment to" success at the highest level."
-finally, if all else fails and Campbell doesn't win any more than Franklin......we will still love him because he plays "hard nose" football, has created culture and is loved by the football alumni. Besides we will have in excess of 100k attendance and luxury boxes!
Failure to be 100% committed to the above contract will be interpreted as being a subversive, and separation from all club activities will occur.
Ben LOLBen Jones has posted a really strange article about this. I won’t give it oxygen by posting the link, but here’s the conversation.

I guess I must be a unicorn because I don’t see negativity in his posts but rather a rational tapping on the brakes for those who have crowned Campbell before he coached a single game. hope Campbell kills it and wins those Big and National Championships Kraft promised but until then consider me someone from Missouri. If his or my posts kills your enthusiasm then I don’t think we are the problem. The real negativity on here is from the posters who constantly keep beating the dead horse about Franklin being responsible for everything including globalI wasn't lashing out at you. Yeah he paid homage to Joe in his first press conference. Maybe he wasn’t as warm and fuzzy with the lettermen as many would like but that doesn’t make him anti-Paterno.After Franklin was hired, prior to a couple PCs he acknowledged the foundation built by Joe Paterno. Well some of us heard him do it more than once, but people in our country find new ways to be the victim or get triggered when there isn't a real reason. What some wanted was him to dress like him, say a prayer to him, and bow down to a statue every single game or else it would have never been enough. Basically grown OLD men still needed reassurance that the man they idolized was still being idolized to their standards. The fact that this is about Joe getting his due which is great and they turn it back on JF is pretty GD funny to me.After Franklin was hired, prior to a couple PCs he acknowledged the foundation built by Joe Paterno. The lettermen were over BGJ. That is more telling then how many times he mentioned Joe. Also his teams were not physical and choked in the clutch (lack of mental toughness) so we lost every big game we played. Those were my beefs with BGJ.Well some of us heard him do it more than once, but people in our country find new ways to be the victim or get triggered when there isn't a real reason. So every single lettermen felt the same exact way....or was it the ones that played for Joe versus James? Maybe Saquon, Micah, and others have spoken negative about James and I may have missed it which is fair...I honestly don't really care all that much about what ex players in most sports say. Most of the ones that are very vocal tend to need the been seen and heard and come off pretty poorly sometimes. They sound like scorn lovers as I see it with another team I love and follow. Mixed feelings on this. I would not have used the word "experience." Good grief. The Paterno Family Football Legacy Wing at Beaver Stadium or The Paterno Family Football Museum at Beaver Stadium.
Regardless of what they decided to call it, it is a bit of justice and peace for the Paterno family, as well as those who lived through those times. It strikes the right tone of not being too much, but at the same time saying "bleep off" to those who would troll over this. I like that it is contained within the stadium, so only PSU fans are really going to visit it. I doubt it gets much media attention by the end of this season. Nice opening transition to bigger things, if that's what the school and family want.
On the other hand, this will absolutely bring out the lunatics, the media folks looking for clicks, the internet trolls, and the uninformed. So much time has gone by, and yet very little has been done by anyone at PSU to really put a narrative out there that says "it's okay for penn state to highlight and connect with the Paterno name." I don't know that there is a big appetite within the PSU community to openly defend this; I assume most of us will just ignore the jokes and call it a day. It's also really bad timing with Sandusky getting back in the news recently.
As far as Franklin and Campbell, I could understand why Franklin would want nothing to do with this (even though I have no idea what he really thought about any of this). The guys Campbell is going to be recruiting in the next two or three years would have just been born when Paterno died; they don't even know who he is. Franklin coached too close in time to everything and had to deal with the negative recruiting from it. Makes sense that Campbell would have an easier time connecting to the past and the lettermen, he and his future football players are further removed from everything that happened. Can't rag on Franklin for any of that. It will only get easier for the guy after Campbell and the guy after him.
I always wondered if pnny just had multiple personalities and ensured each one had the same level of crazy in there.
Ya know if Franklin would have just brought back some former players as coaches or advisors I bet many of them would feel differently. (that was typed in my sarcasm font). So every single lettermen felt the same exact way....or was it the ones that played for Joe versus James? Maybe Saquon, Micah, and others have spoken negative about James and I may have missed it which is fair...I honestly don't really care all that much about what ex players in most sports say. Again this thread has nothing to do with James, this is about Joe getting his proper praise and people people still hung up on James with hyperbolic and statements that aren't even factual. Did he lose too many big games, YEP, did he lose every big game...absolutely not. Joe was a choke job non recruiting machine his last decade....I mean let's be really honest as Joe was the one that let the bar really slide down at PSU. He was useless as a recruiter late and let the program slide, but that doesn't take away from the good things he did. Joe is a legendary coach for the span of his entire career, but many outside of HV aren't going to remember him that way. You aren't going to convince them otherwise...it is what it is there.
"Coach Franklin took on a daunting task when he became PSU's head guy," Arrington said on Instagram. "He did a job that most wouldn't try or could do! I will be forever grateful for your service to our team and our program. I know your heart and I know you wanted the best for our team and our community. I wish you and your family well Coach.
"Life happens and sometimes we have hard things to endure," Arrington continued. "Not everyone makes a difference along the way. You did and I'm grateful that We had you to guide us when times weren't so good. From getting through one of the biggest scandals in college sports history to 1 play away from being in the national championship a year ago. You did well coach. Will always be here for you and always respect and love my guy!!! We Are!!!! We Are Better because of you!!"
Why does everyone have to think the same? I'll enjoy improvement when it appears in significant and tangible ways.I wasn't lashing out at you. My point was this my friend. He spoke of "the great Joe Paterno" at his introductory news conference. It was quite a bit more sensitive 12 years ago. But let's not confuse fanboys with facts.
You really aren't using Michigan as an example you wanted Franklin and PSU to emulate?I wasn’t one of those people. Also, while I said that after the events that transpired last season, it was time for both parties to part their ways, I’ve always said that he did a good to sometimes very good job.
However, he only had one playoff appearance from 2016, when the program finally stabilized, to 2024 and wouldn’t have had one in 2025, and several of those teams were good enough to make the playoffs. Also, he went 1-10 against OSU, which would’ve gone to 1-11 if he had coached in last year’s game. Meanwhile, Michigan beat OSU four consecutive times from 2021 to 2024, and Michigan’s 2024 team was mediocre. Finally, after the Oregon loss and the ridiculous UCLA and Northwestern games last season and the vitriol towards him, a lot of which was underserved, my guess is that he would’ve left PSU on his own accord after the season if he hadn’t been dismissed.
^^That part^^Why does everyone have to think the same? I'll enjoy improvement when it appears in significant and tangible ways.
Campbell is here to do better than Franklin. If he brings excellence at the highest level everyone will acknowledge his achievements. All the other stuff is fluff.

WOW beyond awesome. Thanks for posting. Not sure if this will work here is a link of a tour someone did today at the Paterno Family Museum. Pretty cool seeing Joe's desk set up and everything else on the history of PSU. Definetly a must visit for me when there. (Hope this link works its from Facebook)
