I stopped guessing. The committee is so fast and loose with BS, it talks out of both sides of its mouth.
First, the geographic thing. That is how they justified the 6th team on the s-curve to be paired with 1 in 2019 when there was literally no geographic difference between the east and midwest. Hell, i am sure msu would have been happy to be in the mw and let us have Michigan, who was 8 last year. But yet 4 gets 8 and 1 gets 6?
but geography! Tell that to the 2003 Duke team, a three seed, not only being put in the west region. But also being shipped off to Utah for the first two rounds. Add insult to injury, Duke played a first round game in elevation against a team (Colorado State) that at that time was in Utahs conference so played on that court every year.
the year we lost to South Carolina in the second round, let’s send Duke as the 2 seed to the nearest location that is in the same state as the seven seed? We are protecting the seven seed? GTFO.
then in 2013, for the sake of geography, they stick us with Louisville?
Lets talk injuries. Let’s go back to 2013. Whenever Miamis loss to FGCU was brought up, a key player for Miami was hurt. But no mention of 4-of-5 Of Duke’s losses were without a key starter.
So let’s bring up this year. Have you heard anyone bring up the fact two of Duke’s losses were without a key player who would have made a huge difference in each game?
And let’s use the conference regular season valued more than the conference tournament. Bull. If that was the case, how did the nine seed in the BE tournament in 2011 wind up with a three seed in the dance? How did a team in the big 10 in Iowa, who was not even considered a bubble team, win the conference tournament and wind up a 7 seed?
and the mid majors. They are good. But you cannot give them a pass because of a lack of opportunity for key wins or have gaudy records. I am sorry, the Mountain West is horrendous this year. A loss at home for SDSU to a team with a .500 record is worse than any Duke loss.
and the WCC. God bless Zaga, but outside them, St. Marys and BYU, it is a trash conference.
Meanwhile, the ACC isn’t as bad as people think. Only Miami, UNC, and Wake is hot garbage. If Pitt, Clemson, BC, GT (if they were eligible for postseason), Syracuse can make the NIT, they could easily make noise.
Someone compared UK and Duke and similarities. Here is a big difference. Duke has beaten 5 conference opponents by 30+. UK squeaks by a lot of bad opponents. Eye test, UK is no 2...
