Path to 1 Seed ...?

In my experience, the early round loss is what happens to teams with this label lol
I think the difference is no one saw the rivers or parker teams as threats to win the whole thing. I think the field is so weak this year that the door has always been open. Now I wouldn’t go bet thousands of dollars on us but I still think this team has a run in it

After the Wake Forest loss we’re probably playing for a 2 seed most likely and some & maybe even most might disagree but I don’t think a 1 seed is 100% out of the question because if we win our last 3 regular season games and go on to win the ACC Tournament and depending on what some of the other teams do the rest of the regular season and in their conference tournaments there still be a chance that we could get a 1 seed even if there’s just a small chance of it happening.

If we win out and win the ACC tournament we could get a one seed with help but that seems unlikely at this point to put it kindly.

2 seed is open with MD loss at Rutgers last night. Baylor on shaky ground as well.

I think the only way for us to get a 2 seed would be to win our next 4 games convincingly. Duke has to prove that the bad play of recently is behind them.

If we do that, and still are a 3 seed, Duke has no one to blame but themselves.

If Duke wins out there's no question they're on the 2-line.

Maryland is struggling bad right now. They should have lost to Minnesota last week too....but the Gophers melted down very similar to us against Wake, maybe worse.

Agreed. We win out, we're probably the 2 in the East. Definitely a 2 though.

After giving it some thought I think if we win Sat. and then lose in the ACC championship we could get a 2 seed if enough teams falter. But a 3 seems likely at this point. Unless we lose our next 2, then we'd be a 4. There is not much difference between a two and a 3 seed this year.

As long as we stay in the East, I’m ok with a three

Yep and Yep. It's a matter of numbers and calculations. Win on Saturday vs. UNC I don't think we can be lower than a three. Win out and it means we're ACC champions and that both Louisville and FSU didn't win out. On top of that, we'd likely be a top five Kenpom team. Basically, win out and a two-seed is all but assured, and most likely in the East.

And to @christophero point, I don't think we necessarily have to win out to be on the 2-line. I think there's other ways we can get there. We're going to have a high number of quad 1 wins, high kenpom rating and even though the ACC isn't the ACC of last year, it's still the ACC. I wouldn't take a chance on losing and get a two seed because you'd need some favors from others, but win out and you're safe.

The fallacy of seeding is that in the back of everyone’s mind, they compare this year to past year. Name me 8 teams with a sure fire better resume than Duke?

If we win the tournament, we could get a one. 1. Winning the tournament probably equates to wins over Louisville and FSU. 2. Everyone like Duke (save Kansas) has a god awful loss (Baylor to TCU, UK to Evansville SDSU To UNLV, etc).

I wasn’t going to say it, but since you did....

An article I read last night mentioned 11 teams still ‘technically’ vying for a #1 seed. I was surprised to see Duke on the list, but not really after I read the article.

I really think that if Dayton, Gonzaga or San Diego St. stumble they’re almost out for a top seed. If Duke wins the ACCT they’d likely beat one or both of Louisville and Florida St.

It might be a total reach and it probably is, but there are scenarios where Duke could at least be in the conversation....however, right now I think it’s unlikely. A lot needs to happen.

I’ll just be happy with a win Saturday night vs. UNC for now.

That's what my priority is right now. Sweeping the cheats. I gotta give them credit they are playing well right now. I watched them last night and brooks and anthony were impressive. They hit over 50 per cent of their 3's last night with hitting about 10. We better be ready Sat. and need to wear our big boy uniforms. It would be a hard pill to swallow on senior night. OFC

Ditto, I’m nervous about Saturday. I don’t like how we are trending vs them. They’re playing with nothing to lose since they’ve already lost it all. Can’t see passed that game.

Part of the equation with SDSU and Dayton is there conferences are usually multi bid leagues. This year, they are hot messes...
