Path to a 1 Seed

Again, this. Why do folks think getting the 1 seed in the south with UK as the 2 playing in Louisville would be anything but an unmitigated disaster? If UK wins out, which is no mean feat with a game in Knoxville and a tough SECT, they would get the 1 seed in the south, pushing us to the 1 seed in the Midwest probably with MSU or UM or even KU as our 2s and 3s. That would be better than being number 1 in the south with UK as our 2.

Welcome to a world where we are now pulling for UK to win out so they get the 1 seed in the south, pushing us to 1 in the west. Maybe UT if they won out would get the 1 seed in the south. If that happens, we are playing the Midwest with UK as our 2 in Kansas city, which isn't a huge drive for UK.

There is a strong chance that if UK isn't a 1 seed, they are our 2 seed, and I'd prefer for that to happen outside of Louisville.

If we are worried about playing someone in the tourney, then we have issues. I don’t care who we play or where. Other teams should be worried about seeing us in their bracket.

The East Region is SC/Washington DC. The South Region is FL/Louisville.

Looked at it a few days ago and must have temporarily lost my mind because I butchered that comprehension. I thought SC was a regional location. Good lord.

They started doing pods several years ago to get more teams closer to home early in the tournament. I believe the first 7 or 8 seeds will be placed as close to home as possible. Which is why we played SC pretty much @ SC a couple years ago. Once you get through the first weekend you’ll follow the remainder of your group to your regional site.

Disagree. They are playing much better, and would basically be playing in front of a 95% UK crowd if we met in the elite 8. They'll take their chances.

This. KY, Gonzaga, and UVA fans should want nothing more than Duke to be a #1 seed. If Duke gets a 2 seed whichever 1 seed they’re matched up with is going to be screaming to the mountain top that the committee screwed them. If it’s KY, RR might crash from all the angry posts.
