Is it true several o-line starters have not practiced this week due to the flu?

Anyone carrying the ball cannot fall down when the closest defender says "Boo!"

Anyone on defense who intends to tackle someone with the ball, don't let him run through your arms for 15 YAC.

Well said. The defense should also try TACKLING someone as in wrapping their arms around them rather than simply hitting them and hoping to knock them down.

Is it me or do we see a fundamental difference in defense? JoePa defense were always fundamentally solid in tackling? Franklin not so much? Maybe I am over thinking it but I always though pre Franklin PSU was always solid in the fundamentals of tackling.

Penn State has a profoundly bigger linemen on both sides of the ball. On offense they will run the ball at will. I see the Nittany Lion defense will pressure Vedral all game.

Both Rutgers DE’s average 240lbs. One DT is 255lbs and the other is 275lbs with limited depth. The Penn State Offensive line averages 300+ pounds. I would be surprised if Penn State, at home, doesn’t begin to wear down the Rutgers defense and run the ball effectively mid way through the 2nd qtr.

I agree but Lee struggles in pass protection. Cain is our best pass blocker of the rbs.
Silly me, I thought job 1 of a RUNNING BACK is running. Lee is probably second best in blocking and he hasn’t fumbled lately.

It’s a conundrum, normally I would agree with you. However after watching our line pass block most of the season playing Cain frequently is probably a humanitarian gesture by Franklin to keep Clifford out of the hospital.

True but if he’s a liability in pass protection it kind of tips the defense when he is in the game. At least he blocks better than Lovett.
