Kent is a true "homer" and I love every bit of it. His enthusiasm is contagious. I remember back in the 1982 when Kent was calling the upset victory over #1 Missouri (Yeah I know, it was a long time ago) he was getting pelted with ice by Missouri students late in the game as he was getting more/more excited.

LOL - I remember that too! We are obviously contemporaries :) . I was riding around in a car with HS buddies and I was trying to explain to them what a big deal it was winning that game.

He has quite literally been there for decades of *** teams. He has a right to enjoy how he wants to
There were rumors of some bad behavior when he was removed as the football play by play guy. My suspicion is they were started because of a personal feud with an administrator or booster. His football call was just as legendary as basketball’s. Over the top but it makes me laugh my 🫏 off. I sat right behind him in Sioux Falls a few years ago when Roby was playing. He seemed like a truly nice man. FWIW Senate leader John Thune was a few chairs over from us rooting on the Huskers.

I was there. I was in my prof program there and a buddy who was sick of losing to NU in football drug me to the game thinking we would get drubbed. 🤣
I was listening to the game in my apt. on 13th and Garfield while studing away before heading out to P.O. Pears or Horsefeathers or ......It was a fun time, maybe a little to much fun sometimes.

Missed you by a couple of years. I remember going to Sandys for cheap drinks, the Waterhole or Brass Rail after games or the Zoo Bar for music.

P.O.Pears... I remember getting these great Char-Broiled burgers there. Loved that place! It had character. I wished I would have taken a picture of that big mouth that they hand the food off through.

The rumor I heard Jim rose stabbed him in the back got him removed except Jim didn’t get the first gig it was Warren then Jim got his shot and was imo theee worst play by play we ever had,

That was classic. The arena was so quiet and in shock as the Huskers were rolling to a 16 point upset win (if I remember right) that Kent was whispering the play by play. He didn't want to anger the Missouri fans any worse!

Uncle Sam’s Disco? 🕺. Drank WAY to many pitchers at the old Waterhole.
Thanks to google for refreshing my memory I think we only went to Uncle Sams for the free hurricane drink on your 19th birthday. (not to be confused with the Pat O'brien hurricane glass in New Orleans. I've been to both and don't have the glasses from either anymore.) Barrymores if you wanted to splurge on strawberry dacquiris.

Post graduation mostly went to the Zoo and the Drumstick (east campus) for the live music. The alley behind the Zoo was also a popular place.

Lived in an old house on 18th & B

One of my friends there was the head of the “Antlers” student group. I think the name came from Bullwinkle’s bar downtown. They did some CRAZY crap.

I was listening to the game. Is that the one that Nebraska got ahead and mizzo kept fouling jack Moore and he made the free throws ? My memory isn’t as good as it used too be

That sounds about right. I remember the score being a 16 point spread so fouling and us hitting free throws must have played into it. That's still the biggest win in NU basketball history in my book.

In 1957 Nebraska beat number 1 Kansas State in Lincoln and I believe number 3 Kansas but got blown out in Allen field house like 104-46 earlier in the season. My former boss talked about those wins he was going to unl then. He also talked about going to Nebraska football games for free after the second quarter cuz we sucked so bad

Exactly, he did whisper towards the end of the game. It was funny as hell.
