Okay.

So I have been reading these message boards for over a year now, and I guess I decided it's finally time to introduce myself and become a contributing member of the boards, not just a lurker. So, hi, my name is Mike, and I'm a football dad.

My son currently is a Sophomore at PC, plays up on the Varsity level, my daughter, a Senior at Reed Custer.

I really enjoy all of your insights, and Edgy, you run one heck of a website. For me, this is where it's at for high school football in this area. Hopefully, one day I'll learn all of your abbreviations, and be able to chime in with some sort of knowledge.

With that being said, I'm out!

Mike, you will enjoy this. And remember, voicing your opinion will get lots of reactions...and it is a good thing.

I was surprised that PC did not have enough depth at the soph level to help out when RW went down.

Fratty would need to procreate to be a PC dad.... No chance that is happening. No woman is that desperate.

Welcome aboard MD!

Welcome. If I may be so bold, I'd like to offer you a few of words of advice:

It's best to ignore the guy with the moniker that refers to a certain college in South Bend.

Make sure to mention that the IHSA is out to get the private schools ... or the public schools.

If you want to liven things up a bit, just post that the Chicago Catholic League is far superior to the East Suburban Catholic Conference.

Being a Providence guy, it might be best not to wonder if Lincoln-Way West would mind if you guys practiced on their football field once they close that school too.

Since there are some downstate members on this board, write slowly and use small words so that they can keep up. Same thing goes for the DSR voters.

Prepare yourself: "rambling" has a double-meaning for the the guys from LA.

It's exhausting to be on the wrong side of an MWITT post.

Criticizing Edgy Tim's rankings is the equivalent of telling your wife that your mom is a better cook.

Have fun.

Jchill,

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I know this family and the daughter used to go to Bishop Mac. If so TPF's comment makes sense as well because the family also considered Naz a option for their Son. Mike, if it's you, I hope things are going well for your son, he seems like a really good kid and wish him nothing but success.

No but I wonder if this org post is a catfish?

Reed-Custer is in Braidwood. Someone would consider a daily commute from Braidwood to LaGrange Park?

Lots of solid tuition options in LGP. If you only have to pay for daily flights to and from MDW, it's a great deal.

Does Mike's last name match with the PC roster for #99?

Funny that some of you are not so trusting. So for the record, my daughter did go to Bishop Mac, which is why my boy didn't. I know a few families still at Mac, and without angering them, I'll just say I'm not a fan of their football program.

We did consider Naz, as we were approached by many schools at the mid point of 8th grade, but LP is way too far of a drive for me, and my daughter was a new driver that I didn't want on the 55 let alone 294 every morning in rush hour for school.

Crusader- The picture is the boy on the Sophomore team from the beginning of the year, and was given the number 67 for the Varsity team. As far as the different schools, my kids grew up with the kids from RC, and when I asked her if she wanted to attend Provi, she asked if she could just stay in town and graduate with her friends.

What does "fratty" mean?

Gooms- I'm super excited about the future at PC, and wouldn't be surprised if we were contenders to win the blue next year. As far as details, I'm sure you know I'm not going to give any!!

Hilltoppers- I'm disappointed that our teams won't play next year. I wasn't surprised by this years outcome, my boy trained with a couple of your lineman. I knew we were in trouble in March.

Jwarigaku- it is indeed me, and thank you for the well wishes.

Goodnames- thanks for the advice. I'll sort through it and figure out which i should actually follow lol. As far as LW Wests field, I wish PC would just buy the whole dang school!!

Hinterland- hardest post to read, but damn funny!! I'm impressed that you actually took the time to spell everything out phonetically, it's harder than it looks!!!

Funny reading some of these posts, talking about how "we wanted him badly" and "approached by many school"... and yet the open boundary guys get bent out of shape when its mentioned they have an advantage..

If I wasnt paying attention, I might have thought I was on the Illini recruiting message board..

Though I have to wonder, how does a school like Nazareth get into the recruiting game with a kid from Braidwood..

Downstate-ese is easy to type and speak. I'd like to see someone take a shot at speaking West DuPage County (in Ell-inois). There's a big difference in dialect in the I-88 corridor from about Downers Grove to DeKalb (Cindy Crawford is about the best celebrity example I can think of).

don't be disheartened by the lack of trust. typcically, parents arrive on this board the year their son is a senior, now starting, do all they can to hide they are parents, get called out for hiding the discovered fact (uncovering such things has become art over the last 20 years here), then leave as soon as their son's team loses.

appreciate the skepticism - it will serve you well. I have familial ties to the pc baseball team. I like that the JCA/PC series has breaks in it...when it revives, it takes on a life of its own. best of luck t your son, the future looks good at PC>

With the completion of the LP Chunnel we will be going all the way to Rochester and maybe even make a stop in Beautiful Herscher!
Consider yourself put on notice.

My bigger gripe today is directed at the CPS and IHSA.... saw today in the paper the large number of CPS high schools operating at a small fraction of capacity.. other than the obvious financial waste involved, its also completely screwing over the schools in the 550-700 range, schools that used to be 2A in basketball and baseball.. but because all of these schools remain open with dwinding enrollments and charter schools continue to pop up, they are now 3A and there is a huge jump for a school of 600 kids to compete with a school of 1500 kids, thats a HUGE gap.. even more so when the 2A gap is about 350-550.. IHSA needs to step in and stop making schools pay for the CPS disfunction..

Dont worry, the cost of the next contract/strike settlement is going to take care of the dwindling enrollment white elephants.

That's right. Didn't "Coach" DiFusco set up the financing to build the Nazcopter's landing pad on the roof of the school?

Do you know the Mejias? One is a big Provy supporter/90s era parent who wouldnt let Plainfield South by his house (to put in an extra parking lot).
