Pointless to update. Just pure offense this game back and fourth. Currently 34-27 SICP with Provi threatening almost end of half

Wolfpack real deal. But both teams have shown weakness on the defensive side for sure. Bring on playoffs

This is why edgy hates this topic
Exactly. The coaching situation, a topic it might be, has no correlation with on the field play. PC will be fine in the playoffs. There are always crazy victories throughout a season. It doesn’t give enough justice to SICP coming prepared and showing PC’s defensive weakness. It only helps PC for the playoffs, but also huge props to SICP for coming at PC full force.

Well 3 losses since TP unceremoniously fired might say something about karma
By saying that you're saying PC's opponents had nothing to do with it and also assuming they would have won those games if he were still the cosch.

It’s also upsetting, as a family who sends their kids to PC, focus is solely on the coaching situation. I know this is a football thread, but most, if not all, of these schools are far more than just this particular sport. Just my opinion of course, I guess.

Tuned into the game after the MC game ended and wow, those PC announcers on You Tube were ruthless to Iggy!

Ok fine - since TP gone PC has not played in my opinion to the level of how they would have played had TP remained for rest of this season.
Truth is we will never know. But the teams they lost against are legit state contenders, the first loss against Naz was at Naz, and they desperately needed that win. And by no means was a blowout.

Tough to argue against your point.
Yep - PC just let up 53 - yes 53 pts on Defense to a known running team. Nothing against Iggy - they were better team - but PC got outcoached tonite and D has some major soul searching if they want to make a run iin the playoffs

Would agree under normal circumstances but PC has been gifted a very weak 5a class this year. Even tonight’s version of defense is enough to coast to the 5a title. It’s not an exaggeration to say that 5a is a softer landing spot than 4a or even 3a this season and that is rarely ever the case.

the only possible stumbling blocks in the postseason could be a rejuvenated st Francis and possibly SHG in the unlikely event they wind up a small 5a school.

sadly the likelihood will be 3-4 running clocks en route to a run to the title game which will create the narrative of a team overcoming adversity and improving when in reality it will be simply playing Troy triad, Mahomet, and Morton instead of Naz, MC, and Ignatius.

For PCs sake, they really need that 5a title run because the upcoming offseason will be quite interesting.

I saw Tyler Plantz tonight joking with TY Kennedy, our stellar tight end from Indiana. Astute coach that he is, Plantz found a role for him on defense.

I think kankakee is a real contender. But the inability to play assignment defense vs the option was utterly embarrassing. And that is not to take anything away from iggy.

You’re right. I forgot about Kankakee. They are probably the only other team I could see making a run. And perhaps st Francis if they really are turning things around late in the season.

Sorry, but giving up 53 points at home is embarrassing. Going into this, I thought it was a winnable game. Iggy is good, but this was a surprise.

Lose by a touchdown and I’m not calling it an “embarrassing loss.” But giving up 53 at home? That’s a different story.

Totally agree I was simply saying losing isn't embarrassing. But the way the lost was. A pitiful defensive performance. And the offense was shut out in the 2nd half. Lack of discipline showed with penalties and blown assignments on defense.

PC would have the same record regardless of the coach. Still favorites in their class.
Agree fully. SICP is the real deal. PC didn’t show up tonite. It happens now and then even to the best teams. PC will regroup and I see them winning state. Learn a lot from a game like this

Early seeding has them up against Kankakee early.

Who do you see as the 5A South representative in the title game?
I’ll have to wait to see. Now don’t get me wrong I love the Kayhawks/Raiders/Kays as well as Charlie :) but K3 chokes in the playoffs a lot & I don’t think with the mess that happened at Providence they will go either

I see PC showing up in the playoffs. People forget some games they played. They beat and were also in some close games against some good teams. Regardless of coach

We agree to disagree- I see PC flaming out and maybe - note maybe making it to semis. I feel TP would have led you to a 5A Championship - the interim guy does not impress me - 53 pts to Iggy is something that NEVER would have happened under TP regardless of what you think. Look at what TP did for MC last nite - held Loyola down big time.

I really don't think it matters if they show up most games given the massive talent disparity between the top 2-3 5A teams and the rest of the field.

Round of 32 vs Kanakakee, yes they will have to show up. Then they get essential byes in the rounds of 16 and 8. They will then win a semi against Troy/Mahomet/Morton by 15-30 points and then get a title game matchup against either SF or Cary-Grove who both are down by their standards this year.

They really just need the best version of themselves in the round of 32 and maybe a little bit in the title game.

New HC's comments were interesting in Friday Night Drive. Chalked up the bad defensive night to the unique offense and said "the defense will be fine." I do believe much of the issue was the unique offense, but most wouldn't articulate that to the press. They would say "our defense has to be better" but given the dynamics of what happened on the staff and the offensive and defensive assistants having their own feelings on how things shook out and parents certainly having their own feelings toward who should be running the defense, I suppose he had to be more diplomatic toward the defense under the circumstances of touchy dynamics.

Agree with this statement. The 5A teams aren’t dynamic this year. Hence why I think PC will be fine. PC lost to a very good Naz team, at Naz, by only 2 scores the week of the change of HC. They beat a decent Fenwick team the following week at Fenwick. No one saw them beating MC at all. This was an off night for sure but not indicative of the overall strength of the team. I’m more curious what’s going to happen next year. If the off the field coaching situation will have an effect on parents wanting their kids in the program. I hope they do from a PC family perspective. But we will see. Love talking football on this thread. Like seeing the different perspectives.

Last I saw Naz went 0-3 in league and just lost to Rita at home. PC seems to be trending that way too. I wish you guys luck in 5A but however you spin it, you gave up 50 plus to Iggy and other teams are going to take notice of the glaring weaknesses exposed on film. Just sayin

So other teams are going to randomly adopt the the triple option?

Provi D didn't look good but Iggy put up at least 40 points in all of their wins except for the Fenwick game.

Their weakness was stopping the pitch on the triple option. A offense that almost no team run especially as good as iggy does. The other weakness is depth 2 freshman and 2 sophomores starting on their in the front 7. Once broden mackert gets back into the line up their offense is going to be alot for anyone to handle.

The triple option was the majority of the issue I feel for sure. And props to Iggy for running it so well.
