Ummm - last I saw Loyola, and IC held Iggy in check - heck even Leo held Iggy to only 40
C'mon - a good D can adapt to stop the triple option - unfortuantely like you said you have a lot of underclassmen - and that's not a recipe for winning a state championship

Like I said, in all of Iggy's WINS they scored at least 40.

You saying Leo held them to "only" 40 should tell you it's a good offense.

How can there not be 100% correlation between losing your defensive leader mid-season and not being prepared for the SICP offense, which requires a fairly detailed week of practice to prepare?

stopping triple option is assignment football. Not hard unless you're undisciplined OR the other team just has better players who beat your players 1v1.

Wasn't Nissan already on staff when he took over - wasn't Nissan a prior HC too. Wasnt there a lot of film aready out there on Iggy to watch how IC and LA did and heck even Leo did? I'll give some leeway but 53 pts at teh end of the season? Nope.

Wasn’t Nissen the OFFENSIVE Coordinator before taking over? Isn’t Plantz a DEFENSE guy? Anyway, I wasn’t making any excuses for anyone — I honestly don’t care. Was merely suggesting that perhaps the PC crowd shouldn’t have been surprised they weren’t ready for the challenge of Iggy’s unique offense.

I am very curious your connection to Plantz and/or PC. You seem intensely loyal and fully on tilt by the entire situation.

PC would have the same record regardless of the coach. Still favorites in their class.

Agree fully. SICP is the real deal. PC didn’t show up tonite. It happens now and then even to the best teams. PC will regroup and I see them winning state. Learn a lot from a game like this
I'm not 100% sure exactly what you are trying to say. So let's say things plainly.

1) Providence is NOT as good as they were under Plantz, that is the crux of this entire discussion. This appears very obvious to most football fans.
2) PC's record might be the same or very similar, with or without Plantz. PC is still a formidable football team with good players.
3) PC is still one of the heavy favorites to win 5A without Plantz. 5A is easily the weakest class this year, with at least 2 5A powers Success Factored up (and) 1 5A power playing up voluntarily to 7A.

All 3 of these points can (and are true) at the same time, and proving 1 or 2 true does NOT make the other 1 or 2 false.

Just good friends with a lot of common ones/relatives - he's a great coach. MC got a gift that PC - IMO - threw away. But hey, this was Nissan's 5th - not 1st - game as HC at PC - and he's seen them before while at Larry- and TP was not the only D guy on staff. As Bones mentioned there's a reason Iggy won't win state - because its offense is defensible if you follow your assignments and are coached well on it - which obviously last nite it wasn't. PC needs to pick it up because itt's not just the triple option that has given them problems on D the last couple of TP-less games.

Not only is Plantz’ coaching prowess missed (especially on defense), but it’s reasonable to suspect that not all the players are 100% behind the new coach. Not all the players are enamored with the Provi administration and how the firing was handled. Consequently, not all the players’ hearts are in it. That will have implications in the playoffs. Maybe the 5A field is not strong enough for it to matter. We shall see.

Before you accuse me of the same thing:

1) I do not know Tyler Plantz
2) 6 weeks ago I didn't know the name of the PC football HC.
3) 6 weeks ago, my entire knowledge of PC coaching staff, was that the PC team was well coached

Weird thread. My entire point was that Plantz was a good coach and PC faithful shouldn’t be surprised they got walloped by an offense that requires coaching to beat. And was genuinely curious why Topiary is posting so much on this topic. Carry on. Happy to duck out of something that actually isn’t of great interest to me.

No you're good. I completely agree with you.

It's hard to keep up with all the detours in one of these threads. I thought you were just wondering how close some people were to Plantz, that were defending him (or AKA) not supportive of PC Admin.

Hey guys I've been more that open that I take TPs side over Provy admin. Doesn't mean I don't like Provy now - granted lost some respect for the admin. But overall from a football perspective think PCs got some issues - obviously on the D side of ball. I wish them luck and in their coach search
