Peeing in the shower is no problem. However, releasing a Hershey squirt in a group shower is bad form.
I think it's because the normal soap and shampoo smells are fresh linen, spring rain, orange blossoms, and tea tree oils. The fart smell is so opposed to the normal smells that it stands out like turning a light on in a dark room. Besides, I shower in the morning so there's an added 8 hour incubation period to consider.
Bill Nye should have done an episode on this. I would send it to Mythbusters but they fired Kari Byron so I'll never watch again.
there's something to be said for the sound quality, though. it's not just the echogenicity of the shower itself. it's also the fact that the fart is augmented by the stream of water running across your bunghole.
When I pee in the gym shower.. I angle it so no one hears, even though there's water running, I'm scared someone is gonna Yell "HEY! That guy sounds like he's peeing!"
Why would you stumble into the bathroom if you needed to piss and you had a stiffy? Just stand out in the hallway and let her fly... little awkward at work but they get used to it.
The steam also opens up your sinuses to fully inhale those colon aromatics.
