Penalties offset?

Earlier in the game we got called for holding and they got called for a face mask.
Penalties offset.

Now we get called for holding and they got called for targeting and penalties offset each other again.

Can somebody explain how they completely offset each other?

I realize this isn’t a game changer but it bugs me.

What bugs me is a running back can hold on to a facemask on a defensive back and not ever get called..

Agreed, why is it a personal foul on defense and linemen but okay for a shot to the head for a ball carrier?

Just always been that way. It could be an illegal formation penalty and it would offset a pass interference call.

Stupid, but they don’t factor in yards, unless it is a dead ball foul that happens after the play is over.

Is it to much to ask for a P5 conference to have officiating crews that don’t suck balls?

So the targeting that wasn't called when washington got stood up and two other defenders came in and tackled him, one gave him a shot to the head. Didn't we have a situation after the fact a few years ago and someone looked at the film after the fact and our player was disqualified from the next game like a day or two after the fact? Or am I just dreaming??

The first targeting call shouldn't have been called against them either. Washington does a good job of selling contact and drawing penalties.
