Something is up at Oklahoma State and it’s not good. Of course they won’t tell recruits. I’m sure Gilman and RBY know for sure. Oh well just makes things better for PSU. Keep building the Dynasty.

Not necessarily. Anytime that you put a bunch of people together over a short period of time, you are more likely to lose a few of them.

Look no further than the turnover of coaches that we've had with our football team.

Over the past 10 years, Penn State has had as many wrestlers as Iowa win NCAA titles at 125 pounds. Each school had one individual win titles (SL & Nico). And Nico had the higher average finish (1+1+1+6 = 2.25 avg), and (2+2+3+1= 2 avg).

Using average finish of just 2 guys is a little deceiving. IMHO, NCAA tournament points are a better metric. 125 during the Cael era:

I’m going by Gilmans interview. He left due to an ongoing problem within the staff.

The power of statistics! I am not a fan of cherry picking the exact statistic that will show our guy or team to be the alleged winner. We should let the Ohio States (“NATIONAL (duals) CHAMPION!”) and Minnesotas of the world do that.

I am willing to concede that Spencer Lee had a better career than Nico and that most people would rather judge greatness by number of national titles won, above an average by which one injury year can ruin everything.

Isn't 2 better than 2.25 in terms of finish?

Great pickup. Wish he had the frame to grow into a 149, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Still unsure who the long-term target is at that weight.
Maybe Blaze? He'll be 141 next year when Ono goes 133, and it's not crazy to think he might go 149 when his brother is a 165.

But then, yeah, we'd still need a 149 after 2029.

Yes but if Spencer wasn’t “hurt” in the semifinals, he could have gone on to take 3rd.
Good point. The funny/sad thing is that Spencer probably really was hurt in *all* the rounds.

But since excuses are for wussy dads, Spencer does not want us to think about his injury(ies).

All wrestlers are hurt in some way by March.

i recall Starocci had a bad knee. Didnt he have a broken hand at one point? Spencer sitting out consis still bothers me- I can’t shake the idea that he thinks he is too good to wrestle back.

Despite what I thought a couple of years ago about Henckel and his frame for weight class projection, he looks pretty good at 174. Asher, otoh, looks like he's filled out a lot over the last year. I might flip their weight classes on your list.

I think we all know that SL was more accomplished than NM. No shame there. No need for mathematical gymnastics to try to take away from Iowa. Reality is that SL and 1 Championship is just about all they really have to show for the last 10+ years. And we can list 4-8 guys that were better than SL and count a lot more individual and team championships. Let em have Spencer, that's all they have for the past decade individually.

Is this something you have heard or just hoping for? Shepard is a stud. I would be thrilled if he came to PSU

What weight is Mangano likely to end up at? Is he possibly at 149 for at least a couple years?
Alright I’ll let you guys in on something… I have zero inside connections but getting a follow from Cael on instagram is a big deal… lol

I have not been to youth tournaments since I stopped reffing. The level of scrambling ability in that match?
Way different than when I was a kid. I ran a youth program for the last couple years. The kids at the top look like college kids now. The bottom looks like they should be working the concession stand. Not as much depth in the middle.

I think most would agree that 1+1+1+6 is quite a bit better than 2+3+2+1. Honestly the average doesn't matter when you are talking about a 3xer vs a 1xer. I love me some Nico as much as the other guy, but the 6 was an eye glass smashing aberration. It probably should have been a 3.

I think it's way too early to assume anything negative is tied to that program. Gilman and RBY leaving is far from a scandal, and likely not generating much more than a yawn from DT.

Realistically DT and OSU are firing on all cylinders, coming off of 2 killer recruiting classes that rival our latest, which IMHO is where the rubber really meets the road.

Does Facundo & Ryder's most recent performances cause a pause? Maybe, multiple losses from both this early not to mention Figs and others lack luster showings was not only unexpected but surprising - especially to me ;-/

What it may mean is those 'transfer' guys simply are what they are, and David can't transform them at least overnight. Everyone always says trust in Cael, and the whole Rocco vs Ryder drama is certainly, as of this moment, looking like Cael once again playing 3D chess. While people like me get out over their skis believing some of the hype.

When we see one if DTs top elite recruits (one of the cornerstones of the team he is trying to build - like Jax, Robideau, Ross or Vega) jump into the portal, then there may be some indication of some cracks in the dam. I don't see that happening, granted I wouldn't mind some Jax to the good guys. One can wish.

Again from today's POV it's looking like they are building to become a very serious problem in 2028 and beyond.
