I think it's way too early to assume anything negative is tied to that program. Gilman and RBY leaving is far from a scandal, and likely not generating much more than a yawn from DT.

Realistically DT and OSU are firing on all cylinders, coming off of 2 killer recruiting classes that rival our latest, which IMHO is where the rubber really meets the road.

Does Facundo & Ryder's most recent performances cause a pause? Maybe, multiple losses from both this early not to mention Figs and others lack luster showings was not only unexpected but surprising - especially to me ;-/

What it may mean is those 'transfer' guys simply are what they are, and David can't transform them at least overnight. Everyone always says trust in Cael, and the whole Rocco vs Ryder drama is certainly, as of this moment, looking like Cael once again playing 3D chess. While people like me get out over their skis believing some of the hype.

When we see one if DTs top elite recruits (one of the cornerstones of the team he is trying to build - like Jax, Robideau, Ross or Vega) jump into the portal, then there may be some indication of some cracks in the dam. I don't see that happening, granted I wouldn't mind some Jax to the good guys. One can wish.

Again from today's POV it's looking like they are building to become a very serious problem in 2028 and beyond.

Gilman was watching his words closely but pretty much said he left because of staff issues going on behind the scenes. Straight from his mouth. Now Gilman and RBY are very close which he also said in his interview. Thus RBY is back with us. Oh well I’m personally just focusing o tomorrows match and Sunday against Lehigh. Should also tell us about 141. Big season here now.

Probably not. His 2028 Olympic weight is 74 kg / 163 lb.

Besides, it's not like we need the points. Whatever happens, but I'd rather see Duke shirt and get Henckel in at 174 next year.
can henckel make 174 beyond this year? he just wrestled Levi at the BK tournament and looked like he didnt give up much size to Levi... He looks big... what will henckel be in a year or two ? you maybe right but I feel like henckel has the frame to put on some weight? Maybe PJ pulls a Levi and goes up multiple weight classes? or maybe he redshirts / lets Kasak go at 157 and comes back the following year at 165? PJ also seems to have the genetics to keep growing?

Glad Im not the one that has to make those decisions! LOL

I have not been to youth tournaments since I stopped reffing. The level of scrambling ability in that match?

LOL. A ref really has to be careful in a youth match.

At our ref association meeting on Monday, we had a short presentation from one of the elite refs in our area. He's now retired from active reffing, but is very involved in NCAA ref evaluation.

Anyway, his overall point was on not being in a rush to award points, and to wait until control is established. As an aside, he mentioned that if you're reffing youth matches, where they "move around the mat like they have fire coming out of their a$$es," if you don't wait for control to be established, you'll quickly be in double digit points, when few if any of them really should have been given.

The first year guys in youth wrestling don't usually scramble all that well. But you get the guys with 2+ years of experience, who have some talent, their scrambling ability, in conjunction with their insane flexibility, makes for some wild, and rather enjoyable (for me) matches to ref.

I'm also putting this BaschAMania in the Social Media thread. But @WillieTheBrain and Basch discuss the Grey Burnett verbal to PSU around the 8:55 mark, so I'm also posting in this thread.
