I can only try and mimic the great @Tom McAndrew, so here we go. Please use this thread for all discussion about tonight's Penn State-Maryland match before, during, and after it.

When: Friday, Jan. 7, 7 p.m. ET

Where: @ Maryland (Xfinity Center Pavillion)

TV: none

Video Streaming: BTN+

Audio Streaming: The radio PBP will be streamed for free. Jeff Byers will be live starting at 6:45 pm EST with the pre-match. You can access this at:

PBP: I am hoping to be around to do PBP of the entire match but am not 100 percent certain of it at this hour. If someone else can jump in, leave a reply or shoot me a PM so I know, please. And as always, a reminder to please give a score at the end of each match (or between periods if you post by period), as well as the team score after each match.

Couple of additional notes:

--Have not heard anything as of 10:30 a.m. ET about Drew Hildebrandt's availability for tonight's match.

--There is similarly no new news about Brady Berge's timeline to compete. He is not yet listed on the team's online roster, for whatever that is worth.

Greg, it's now 11:55 a.m. ET. Have you heard anything about Hildebrandt and Berge for tonight? Please update us every 15 minutes from now until the start of tonight's match. After that, you can update us every 20 minutes.

Greg,
Their shouldn’t be much red tape at all with Berge since he already got his degree from PSU. He’s not a transfer so one would think he should be good to go. Guess we need to get Jeff Byers to ask Cael during the pre match interview somehow.

Our former Pastor (recently left for greener pasture) told me that he babysat the Dean boys as kids. Their father was his HS football coach. He himself wrestled for Baptist Bible College for one year when the 197lber was injured. I asked him how he fared; he said he won one one match that year. Good sport, though. Not many can claim babysitting two individual NCAA wrestling champs. (see what I did there..?)

First period
Quick takedown for Hildebandt, 2-0 just seconds into the match. Tilts for four and a 6-0 lead. Tilts again with a half nelson and it's a fall in 1:38. Alrighty then.

Hildebrandt by fall.

First period
RBY scores on a double leg to take a 2-0 lead. He then tilts for four and a 6-0 lead. Another tilt, and another four points. It's 10-0. RBY tilts again, and it's 14-0 after a period of wrestling.

Second period
RBY cuts to start neutral. It's 14-1. RBY scores a takedown, and it's a 16-1 technical fall for Roman Bravo-Young in 3:26.

Byers said Berge is expected to go at 165 "but we'll see how that plays out for the Nittany Lions."
