not gonna lie, I used to dislike watching the heavier weights. I wanted the duals to start at 197 so we could get 197 and HWT ‘out of the way’ for real wrestling to start. With the era of the dancing bears about over and the last several years of recruiting a different style athlete and more active, scoring-types, coaching-up, these weights are a lot more fun to watch.

as far as Potentially Dangerous, I Do wish the refs would call an earlier PD. Since DelGado and the ‘waterfall’-type scramble, more guys put themselves into a PD situation. Years ago, a defensive wrestler would have ‘just given up the two’ and fought back for a reversal or escape. But we’ve now have fewer and fewer matches, and I think part of it is the way guys put themselves into PD situations and get hurt…

285: #2 Greg Kerkvliet vs. #24 Harley Andrews (HA)

244.8 vs. 231.4

Per 1
HA tries a body throw and Kerk lands on top of him for the TD, 3-0. HA quickly over so no back points. OOB with 1:51 left. Byers says Kerk was a little under the weather this week. Caution on HA. Kerk works a 2-on-1 on the wrist and tries to tilt him. Stalemate with 1:29 left. HA working up on the restart, then back to the mat. Stalemate with 0:46 left. HA to his feet, lifted and returned. HA is flattened, and a stall warning on HA. HA tries a roll, but Kerk stays with him. End. RT @ 2:21 for Kerk

Per 2
HA defers, so Kerk takes bottom. Kerk with a roll and gets behind for the reversal, 5-0. Kerk working for a cradle, but couldn't get the last few inches to lock it. HA is flattened, and now Kerk tilts him. He gets 3 NF, but then gives up a reversal, 8-2. OOB with 0:47 left. Kerk sort of shrugs HA off of him, 9-2. I think HA tries to throw in a boot and got too high. HA sort of shoots, and Kerk with a TD just before the buzzer, 12-2. RT @ 2:35 for Kerk

Per 3
HA takes bottom. Kerk with another 2-on-1 and got close but not past 45 degrees. Kerk tilts with a different hold and gets 4 NF, make sit 16-2. RT is locked. Kerk tilts him again, and gets 4 NF, and it's a 20-2 TF, @ 6:11

17-0, PSU

This takes me back to the first PSU dual in Lincoln after Nebraska joined the B1G. It was on BTN but Nebraska was responsible for supplying announcers for the telecast. They sounded like students who were grabbed out of an introductory broadcast class. They didn't seem to know what some of the scoring moves were or the points which went with them. It was bad. Fortunately, the BTN got away from home team announcers.
