It appears you are correct.I'd take a 3 to 1 but Pitt won't do anything other than 1 to 1 which means the series is dead.

Am I permitted to hang onto my memories of the golden era of Penn State football? Or do I have to get them go too?It hasn't been a "tradition" for 20+ years.
Just let it go.
I don't care what YOU do, just don't force your memories on us and I also have many of those same memories.Am I permitted to hang onto my memories of the golden era of Penn State football? Or do I have to get them go too?
I thought we were simply having a discussion here. I didn't know this was a battle of forces.I don't care what YOU do, just don't force your memories on us and I also have many of those same memories.
It's only a battle if you want it to be. I was just stating my opinion. If you want to read more into than whats there, I cant do much about that.I thought we were simply having a discussion here. I didn't know this was a battle of forces.
As was I only stating my opinion. You're the one who accused me of forcing my will on others my friend. It's only a battle if you want it to be. I was just stating my opinion. If you want to read more into than whats there, I cant do much about that.![]()
They got crushed.Pitt getting crushed!!!
We play our greatest rival yearly, much like Bama-Auburn, Michigan-OSU etc.. We as fans get to witness it and enjoy it that's our benefit. What is the benefit to us?
Our fan base under 40 doesn't even see it as a rivalryWe play our greatest rival yearly, much like Bama-Auburn, Michigan-OSU etc.. We as fans get to witness it and enjoy it that's our benefit.
Obviously not, only thing that matters is now damnit, lolAm I permitted to hang onto my memories of the golden era of Penn State football? Or do I have to get them go too?
Memories are great--until you start making decisions based on nostalgiaObviously not, only thing that matters is now damnit, lol
I watch a lot of bad PSU games, most of this year for that matter, but as long as we are catering to the right people all that matters I guess. Our fan base under 40 doesn't even see it as a rivalry
I'm 50 and I couldn't care less.
The people that actually care aren't who they're catering too.
I have no idea why you enjoy watching a bad game but cool for you
I don't think they should cater to anyone but they are focused on people much younger than meI watch a lot of bad PSU games, most of this year for that matter, but as long as we are catering to the right people all that matters I guess.
The woke police are patrolling the board.Obviously not, only thing that matters is now damnit, lol
You’re crazy if you think college football has anything to do with tradition and pageantry anymore. Money and little elseStill the only true Rival PSU has, College Football all about tradition and pageantry, no clue why anyone wouldn't want to play them every year. This game use to be as big as any in country.
No reason not to play Pitt then because that would make money year in year out. You’re crazy if you think college football has anything to do with tradition and pageantry anymore. Money and little else
They're not a rivalry for decades. We play our greatest rival yearly, much like Bama-Auburn, Michigan-OSU etc.. We as fans get to witness it and enjoy it that's our benefit.

And this is it in a nutshell. The eastern side of the state doesn't care. I knew one Pitt fan over the years. As a WPa kid, I want it back just to STFU these annoying yinzer fans that surround me.
Does the Southeastern side of the state even care about PSU? I’ve always thought that PSU’s main support in the state was from the Northeastern through Western parts. I never got the feeling that the general Philadelphia area cared that much about college football in general and PSU in particular. And this is it in a nutshell. That is Mostly due to large number of the hosts being temple grads. It’s really stupid because it alienates a large percentage of listeners![]()
Where Do Penn Staters Move After Graduation?
Not only is literally everyone at Penn State from "right outside of Philly," ALMOST everyone also works "right outside of Philly."onwardstate.com
Unsurprisingly, not only is literally everyone at Penn State from “right outside of Philly,” ALMOST everyone also works “right outside of Philly.” More than 19 percent of Penn State graduates move to the City of Brotherly Love’s metropolitan area.
It is true, however, that many on the non alums in the Philly area don't care about PSU at all, and many even resent PSU. Anyone who can stomach Philly talk radio will confirm that. Still, overall PSU has a lot of support in the Philly area.
To me it's such a hotbed of high school football, I think it would help PSU to play in Pittsburgh once every three years. But as mentioned that was nixed by PITT.What is the benefit to us?
You don’t think the players there know Penn State? Playing there is not necessary to draw recruits. To me it's such a hotbed of high school football, I think it would help PSU to play in Pittsburgh once every three years. But as mentioned that was nixed by PITT.
It was national for a period of about 10 years (mid 70's to mid 80's).Still the only true Rival PSU has, College Football all about tradition and pageantry, no clue why anyone wouldn't want to play them every year. This game use to be as big as any in country.
I think (or at least share you hope) that everyone understands why you and others have such fond memories or the rivalry. It's just been dead for so long that anyone under 50 doesn't have those memories.I must admit. I was wrong about fans wishes to play Pitt. I suppose its only us old timers who want to play the Panthers again. Maybe to rekindle some old memories. I do feel fortunate to have those memories and know that I attended Penn State and watched the Lions play during the schools golden age of football. I feel fortunate to have seen Franco Harris, Lydell Mitchell, John Cappelletti, and other all time Nittany Lion greats play at Beaver Stadium. Fortunate that I attended one of the all time great Penn State/Pitt games at old Pitt Stadium in 1977. I hope those fans here who don't see the significance of playing Pitt understand why the rest of us see value in playing the game. I hope, for the younger fans, that during their lifetime Penn State finds another rival at the same level as once was the Pitt rivalry so they can live the same experiences that I have.
They are our greatest historic rival but we haven't played Pitt as a regular end of season rivalry game since 1992. To put that in perspective in 1992 Bill Clinton was Governor of Arkansas and 9/11 wouldn't happen for another nine years. That's a long time ago.We play our greatest rival yearly, much like Bama-Auburn, Michigan-OSU etc.. We as fans get to witness it and enjoy it that's our benefit.

We all enjoyed the old days with JoePa leading his team against Jackie Sherrill, Blackledge vs Marino, etc. but that's in the past. We may see an occasional game but unless Pitt joins the B1G, which won't happen, Pitt is just another team and Penn State has moved on.
Not nearly what it was in terms of talent but still solid. Either way, our current HC has great relationships in the area, no need to play there to recruit the area.To me it's such a hotbed of high school football, I think it would help PSU to play in Pittsburgh once every three years. But as mentioned that was nixed by PITT.
Pitt should play Temple every year. Two programs from the largest cities in PA that perennially play MAC level football to almost empty stadiums. If Pitt is willing to come to State College 3 times for every PSU trip to Pitt until the series history hits each team playing 50% of the games at home then we can go for that. Until then there is no reason to put butts in their seats when they offer nothing but downside to PSU. Beat them and it draws a collective national yawn. Lose to them and you elevate their status. F Pitt.
