Amazing how a 5-4 team draws Curie then most likely plays Barrington at home
Rice on other hand gets to play Bolingbrook then Notre Dame
Was hoping that Rice would have gotten Marist at home for bragging rights

Ihsa always wants to knockout every catholic school as soon as possible but their hatred runs even deeper for the all boys Chicago Catholic league schools.

Some might say Rice would have the easier route. Curie nearly advanced past NT last season and Barrington really should have beaten GBW.

The good thing about 1-32 is the IHSA has nothing to do with where you fall, its all by the #'s

Until the private schools stand up to the IHSA it will continue to be the same. As I've been saying for weeks regarding 5A, JCA, Naz and MCC will all be in the same north bracket and maybe even in the same mini-bracket and LWW will go south...just a typical move by IHSA

Curie isn't a cake walk. It will take a great game on their part to win it, but they've played with NT, Loyola and Simeon. You're not gonna blow their doors off by any means

All ihsa can manipulate is the N/S border, everything else is a transparent numbers game. That said IHSA will manipulate JCA into the North even though the they should be South.

I dont like that they manipulated it two years in a row to guarantee that SHG & Montini would meet in the championship. Obviously, theyre anti-public.

It actually might do the ihsa better if the ihsa and Naz are separated bc of bump up rule....for the longer run.

Yes, I did my tin foil hatted friend. You are admitting that we are talking about borderline schools who will still either be in a bracket with SHG or with Montini... there is nothing the IHSA can do to manipulate you out. You have to win your games, that is all.

I take back the nice things I've said about you Bones.

GW beat Barrington because they had Brodner and a guy named Ben Marcus that busted up a squib kick recovery like a boss.

I get it, Barrington is no easy draw and conspiracy theories are the playground of the ill equipped. Just leave West out of this

LOL I dont think I said anything bad about GBW, and I wasnt even saying Barrington was better, but, and I think you will agree with me that when you have the lead like Barrington had you are supposed to win. I know you feel that way about your Hitters, I feel like that about my team... Does it always happen? Clearly not.

Agreed. Funny thing about football is that requires you to close. Hetlett gets accused of keeping his starters in too long but it is really difficult to finish games at Duchon. Something happens to coaches when they shift to lead protection. 28-7 is never a done deal at half. You just need playmakers combined with defensive adjustments and good leaders.

Last year GW had all three. Stevie just happened to have a very similar set of assets.

For the record I would have left starters in at 28-7 too.

As I recall from watching the GW-Stevie game last year, GW got hosed on a TD call because the Stevie running back's knee was down before he got into the endzone. So GW was certainly a championship quality team last year, and that was a heck of a Semi-Final game. But you are right, Cap, football comes down to finshing. The tackle at the goal line. The on-side kick. The fumble or INT. Whether you have the lead or not, you are only "supposed to win" if you finish it off.

The TD play you refer to was, I think, a 1st down play. Stevie would have run an additional 30 seconds off a clock that only had 60 ticks.

West had their chance by driving back to the 10 but forgot who their playmaker was. I still get angry picturing Brodner waving his arms in the flat by himself on both 3rd and 4th down. OC called same play 4 straight times (play action boot to drag route.). Our mo ey TE/Slot was double and triple teamed all four times.

GW had to pass with no timeouts left and 20 seconds left, but all they needed to do was throw back away from the boot and let Brodner deal. Risky if he doesn't get in, but I would have taken my chances on the big fella. On 4th there was no one within 15 yds of him.

Sorry to go off topic but thanks for letting me share.

Per IHSA qualifiers page it looks like Marist will actually get Niles Notre Dame and play the winner of Barrington and Plainfield South. Niles Notre Dame and Curie should be flipped in Soucie's 8A prediction, as should Naperville Central and Brother Rice. At least that's how I'm interpreting it.
