Handled the ball well.
Hit a three.
Had a nice drive and kick for a three.
Pope seems to trust him to play key minutes to give Butler a rest.
His defense is steadily getting better every game. Building confidence.

Solid minutes. Excellent job as a reserve. He keeps this up and he can grow into a very important role for us.

This was a huge building block game for him. He very well might be capable of being our backup PG when Butler goes out. That's big, because who really knows how Kerr will fare after his injury.

Yep. And hopefully lets Jaxson figure out his role better.

Now that he’s hit one, just his being confident in looking for his shot will open the offense more too as teams will not go under the screen.

I think he knows he is limited at the rim against much longer athletic defenders, so the next step for him is developing (or using it if he has one) a nice floater in the lane
Hes got that floater trust me

Pope is gonna develop Perry, Noah, and Chandler. It's gonna be fun to watch. You can already see it with Perry, it's there. He's gonna tribute eventually. I believe the same will be true with the others.

Noah and Perry have no fear. Noah comes right into the game and is looking to launch. His point to playing time ratio must be impressive. I really think he is going to be a good one. Chandler seems to be working hard on all aspects of his game. His shot has been off, but his awareness on the floor has really improved on both ends of the floor. Three tough hard working kids.

Agree with your post. but does anyone know why the Chandler kid did not get any minutes yesterday? His is hurt?
I know he has a lot to catch up on being away for so long, but 30-40 seconds before a TV timeout and let him sub to give a starter a longer rest is something he can do.
Just wondering; any clue as to why he did not see any action?

Because we’ve reached the stage of the season where it’s time to shorten the rotation and get serious. The games where everybody gets some run are done. Even Perry’s only getting some because of Kriisa’s injury.

YES ... He's a smart kid and he's figured out that attacking the basket in traffic is not an option for him, as you suggest.
The best he can do is to work hard on the quick pull-up jumper and try to master the float game, ala Tyler Ulis, as proceeding directly to the rim will provide limited success. I think he is savvy enough to quickly learn how to best utilize the skill set he has to help the team.

Agree he looked more comfortable. Was able to play some key minutes and give Butler a rest.

Happy to see him hit a big 3 vs a major opponent. Hopefully his confidence continues to grow.

No question. Wont show up yet in scoring but can see it in his handle and movement. Much more assertive. Will take some more settling in and a few more shots to go down to get to the next confidence level.

Getting better. Perry has to be a threat and make teams play different when he is playing point guard. "U can't leave him like u can others".. should be his deal

FWIW, Noah was lights out in warm ups Sat.
He just did not miss from deep and he's already proven he can do it games.
Nice replacement for Brea down the road.

Probably because Brea was so hot

Guy had 5000 points in high school...should he shoot more? Do you think Pope is begging him to do so? Seems like if he could just get some confidence with a break out game he might come on fire.

My theory is if guys like Richie Farmer, Travis Ford, Patrick Sparks and Cameron Mills can make a name for themselves competing at this level, then so can guys like Perry and Noah. May take a couple of years for them to really hit their stride but I’ll be happy if we get a good four years out of those guys and maybe five if the NCAA does its thing.

Earlier poster said he thought Perry looked nervous. Couldn’t disagree more. Watched Perry make a snap decision when a Florida guard hesitated on a pick and roll switch in the first half and Perry launched it from about 23 feet. He had the perfect snap-square to the hoop and swiftly fired with a snapped and held wrist —- confident as can be. Florida is lucky he didn’t drill that shot as I believe it rimmed out. I looked over at my wife and said Perry is locked in. When dribbling, there were a couple times that opposing guards pressed up on him to get him to pick up his dribble (something he was doing regularly before) but he kept the ball on a string and would hit a hesitation move and keep going. Also he lost the angle defensively on one play where a Gator exited from beneath to goal to take a short range lean in. Perry covered the wide side to force the Florida player to shoot a tougher shot, which missed. Is Perry even close to a top player for us? Not yet. I am, however, seeing some significant improvement and feel he could be a rotation piece next year.

No way he would see the floor with Cal, not this year or subsequent years. Don’t want this season to end anytime soon but expect Perry and Noah to play significant roles next year and after. Exciting times to be a CAT fan.

Reminds me of a fr Louie Dampier the way he dribbles, moves and shoots. Hope he grows into that type of player.

Not everybody, including the great Louie Dampier, is a stellar defender.

Great teams are a blend of different skill sets.
