Going on this weekend. Me and my brother are going to drive down. We went as a family about 25 years ago so this will be fun. Site says 9am-9pm Saturday and 9-5 Sunday. We’re going Saturday. Wondering what time(s) the re-enactments are? Nothing on the site. Guessing they do it multiple times during the day or am I wrong?

it’s a 2 1/2 hour drive for us and I would like to make it back home by 6 for the Florida game

any info is appreciated

DW's great-grandfather fought in it - Confeds. Her great-grandmother's family, Kirkland, had their house near the battlefield taken over by the Union to use as a hospital. After battle was over, they couldn't live there with all the body parts scattered around. Both extended families from the Forkland area.

Nice. My ancestor didn’t fight at Perryville but was in the Kentucky 7th Calvary (Union), taken prisoner, sent to Andersonville, then died on the explosion of the Sultana.

Called em today. No reenactment this year. Few other things going on but likely won’t be attending now. Next year is the 160th anniversary

Always wanted to go to the reenactment, but never have, and can't do it this weekend either

I have been to Antietam, and read the exact thing happened there, nearly every local got sick after the battle due to all the dead bodies, and dead horses laying everywhere, which got in the water table. Had to use every structure for miles around to care for the 1000s of wounded also.

One gr-gr-grandfather was in 28th OH (2nd German Regiment). Killed in the relatively small battle of Piedmont, VA a month before enlistment was up. I've said this before, but it's much harder to be descended from someone killed in battle vs. being descended from a veteran.

My third great grandfather was killed by Bedford Forrest at the Battle of Sacramento.

My second great grandfather was executed after the war for re-entering the CUSA army after signing a pledge not to after Donelson. November 1865 Hopkinsville.

Friend of mine did some work on a fireplace in one of the old houses in Perryville . There were stains on the wood floors that supposedly were bloodstains from where wounded soldiers were brought in and the house was used as a makeshift hospital.
