I finished my degree butI don't have much patience with school so I did it in stints for the breaks. I didn't need the degree for a job or anything so I just worked and took online courses to finish it up in short stints. I probably did it the least disciplined way possible. I'm also well on my way to being debt free. But I hang my hat on making it possible for my wife to be a stay at home mother. It was something she really wanted and I'm glad we could make it happen even though it cut our household income in half.

Now to start working on that fat thing

Been smoke free for almost 3 years now. It was one of the hardest things I have ever accomplished in my life. Every day I still have to choose not to smoke.

Wife and I had about 100k of credit card debt at one point. We decided we had to fix it and worked hard on it. 5 years later we were debt free (except mortgage). Have remained that way for over 8 years.

Just out of curiosity, what do you drink now to replace the Cokes? I bounce between decaf tea, Diet Cokes and water. An occasional beer, orange juice or milk.

Finished grad school with a 4.0. Really wanted to see the nice diploma with the fancy Latin phrasing you receive with a 4.0, and come to find out my school does not give out such recognition. Losers.

• 6 years ago, I lost 36 lbs in 6-7 weeks And have kept at least 20+ of it off ever since. Late last year I lost 21 lbs, down to 5 lbs less than in 2010
• We use our Southwest Visa to purchase everything possible. But I have not carried over a monthly balance on a credit card in 20 years.
• I also gave up sodas about 12 years ago. I didn't drink them at all for about 3 years. I do some now. I'd say I average 3-4 a month. I used to drink 3-4 Diet Cokes per week day.
• I also never missed a class while getting my MBA. I went back to get my MBA because I felt I'd underperformed while getting my undergrad in accounting and was embarrassed that I'd missed class so much.

I pretty much only drink water and coffee (plus beer/liquor when in a social situation). Really only picked up the coffee habit over the last 5 years. Before that, it was basically water all the time. Can't stand diet drinks. Never liked them. Used to drink Coke and Pepsi...1 to 4 per day. When I stopped, I stopped having headaches 3-4 times per week, lost weight, and my sleeping habits became consistent. I, also, used to take naps whenever I could, but almost never feel like I need them anymore (not sure if that is just due to getting older or if it is related).

I love coffee, and admit that I am currently addicted. Look forward to it in the morning, often have decaf in the evening. Usually have 1-3 cups per day. Don't add sugar or sugared creamer.

Ha! I'm the same way with coffee. I never drank it until I was over 30. When I quit drinking sodas, my coffee consumption increased quite a bit.

Overcame a period of severe substance abuse not too unlike what we have read about Blackmon.

Will graduate with a dual MBA and MS in Business analytics this summer. Much of my motivation for more schooling nearly 15 years after undergrad echo Marshall's reason for going back. Plus, I'll always expect more of myself, cant help but have that bent. In either case, econometrics and statistics set my hair on fire.

Finished with a doctorate from OSU in 2013...never thought I would ever go to grad school (was on a 5 and 1/2 year undergrad plan) let alone going after a terminal degree. Although I've been a life-long fan, this was my only degree from OSU. So, when I sing the alma mater at the end of football games, it means a little more now, obviously.

I was very skeptical of how I could learn, but my wife and I bought Rosetta Stone and it is great. You don't start with numbers and A, B, C style stuff, the application throws you right into words, sentences, etc., but it is all based on pictures. Makes it very easy to get rolling. I have only just started our 1-5 level version, I am maybe thirty lessons in and still have hundreds more to go.

Made new habits. I chew gum a bit too much because of the smoking break.

Cycling made it easy to clean up my diet (soda and fast food). I've stayed active ever since.

Realizing that I needed my wife and kid in my life more than my phone made dropping it real easy.

Plus, my wife wanted to go on a strict diet prior to a cruise with her sister. Since I didn't want people who saw us together to look at us like I was Slippin' Jimmy to her Kim Wexler, I figured I'd better go along with the diet with her.

Chantix is what helped me get over the hump on smoking. I smoked over a pack 25 to 30 filtered cigars a day and I inhaled them. I was a chain smoking fool. I was so addicted that I have even smoked in airports because of long flights. Being free of that habit was like getting a new life it is just hard to explain so the thought of ever going back is what keeps me from even trying a puff or one cigar now. I have a cigar box full of Cubans and nice premium cigars and I just gave them all away about a year ago so I am not even tempted to smoke one of them. Not having to have a smoke in my mouth when I do something was very liberating. Sure makes my trips to Hawaii a lot easier. Plus I don't have to pay extra taxes.

Language and music are about the only things I haven't been able to learn no matter how much I applied myself. It is like something in my brain is disconnected when it comes to those two things. My wife on the other hand is a very gifted piano player so I only hope my kids won't have to deal with it. I wish I could play an instrument so bad. Instead I stick to beat boxing lol.

Loss 90 lbs.....280 to walking around around at 205 and competing at 200-185 depending on the tournament.

Hurt my hip pretty badly and gained about 40 back. Taking it back off now.

Wife got mobilized for a year and I took care of three little girls all by myself that year....managed to not kill any of them or allow them to die.

I gave up sodas as my NY's resolution this year. Replaced them with seltzer, tea, coffee.

Gave up Red Bull over 10 years ago.
